My high skool gpa woulda been under 2.0. Not kidding. Only got admitted to Cal bc of SAT and Achievement test scores as non-Cali resident who knew that acceptance only depended on these scores and when application was received. They did not consider your grades. Thank goodness. Year was 1969. Had I not been accepted to Cal, and I was rejected at he other 4 colleges to which I applied, I woulda lost my 2S student deferment and become eligible for the draft. Which, as you may realize, meant a sojourn to Saigon. I ended up in Berkeley (and not Saigon). Which was, undeniably, the most serendipitous thing that ever happened to me. Hadnt even been to SF once when I arrived in Fall of 1970. Don't give a **** if you call em dumb azzz bc of their hs GPAs. But not everyone peaks at 17. And wanted to provide some addl context/color from aging, albeit affluent, former dumb azzz...Lets sweep next week and get back on track!
