Steven Khan new XC & T&F recruit

Steven, Ayala HS (Chino Hill, CA) won the D2 XC 'ship in 2015 & came in 4th this year in the same division. Outdoors TF, no outstanding marks from 2016 but looks to have improved this year with a nice early season time in the 3200 with a 9:22.32, which is over 22 sec better than previous best.

    OBear073,

Thanks for posting these new commits. I'm used to be a huge T&F fan (used to go to the West Coast Relays as a kid, both my kids did track in high school and my son did 4 years in college) but I find it hard to get excited about Cal T&F the past year so this helps.

Another distance runner commitment. Best of 9:16.81 in the 3200. He made state last year but came in only 24th.

    Some legit 2017 gymnastic recruits
    Alma Kuc to California 2017-2018
Kuc from All Olympia, Cal. competed for Poland at the European Championships in 2014 as well as the Gymnastics Legends International meet. Watch her floor routine from Europeans here.

    Kyana George to California 2017-2018
George is a level 10 from Metroplex, Texas. She finished third all-around at her state meet last season, placed first on vault and floor at regionals, and came third all-around at JOs.

    Maleah Pearson to California 2017-2018
    Minnesota

During her visit here in Oct. she saw Ryan Murphy in the dining room:

Thanks for posting these 2 new recruits. Both seem to be additions to our weight events specializing in the Javelin throw.

    BOYS WATER POLO
Tamir Avital, Corona del Mar, Cal

    http://www.ocregister.com/2017/04/12...ned-wednesday/

Corona del Mar goalie Matt Moran-Flores and center Tamir Avital have committed to four-year schools in the MPSF.

Moran-Flores signed over the weekend with 2016 NCAA runner-up USC while Avital has committed to reigning NCAA champion Cal.

Both players helped Corona del Mar captured the Pacific Coast League title and reach the Division 1 quarterfinals, where they fell to eventual champion Orange Lutheran.

Avital scored 70 goals while Moran-Flores made 186 saves.

At Cal, Avital will join former CdM standout Matt Sherburne. Former Sea Kings Brendan Hack and Ben Brooks are at USC.

SMB Sanjay Kettle has committed to Cal

A long jumper and triple jumper who has been injured much of this year. Not sure of his exact best marks but think 23.5 LJ and 46 TJ. He also was a football player on their team playing DB & WR. Not sure if he will tryout as a walk-on for the FB team too.

Note: Sanjay is wearing the Cal hat!

Add out of state sprinter (Girl)

Perusing the diff track websites, found multi talented, Deshae Wise from Grant Pass, Oregon has been recruited by the Bears. She won the state 6A Oregon 100 11.97 but has run the best of 11.79 and also won state titles in the 100HH at 13.96 & 300h at 42.86. Other marks 200 24.69 & 400 57.64.

She has lived a tough life. She reminds me of former Track star at Cal, Francesca Weems who also grew up in a tough environment.

800 runner recruited from Bellarmine HS

Benjamin Micallef, 800 with a best of last year 1:52.29. He was a Cal state finalist L.Y. in his signature event but mustard only an 8th plc and with a time of 1:55.30. This year he made the CCS finals but came in a disappointing 11th plc at 1:59.48 (ouch!). He looked to had originally verbal to Wisconsin but not should what happened (scholarship pulled?)

though I think they are more student than athletes. Marks are so so!

    Raul Montellano (Fresno, H.S.) 3200 10:48

    Alvin Yu (Great Oak, HS) 800 1:59.07; 1600 4:26.13; 3200 9:59.79

Might have to send these 2 for some extra training with the Strawberry Canyon Track Club
