Thread: Wj's roster shake-up plus or minus.

Wj's roster shake-up plus or minus.

Let's see how the new coach impacts the roster this off season:

Adds: assuming Rooks gone had cm stayed. Plus 25 solid min in the paint.

Minus: Baker decommits. Lose 20 min backup pg? Is this coaches big vote of confidence in Dyson?

    Total: wash for now.

Is it confirmed that Rooks is staying?

Baker is not a 20 minute per game back up point lol. He was our starting 2.

Charlie Moore staying is a big +. Top 50 level recruit.

This past season, the team needed players who were capable of scoring. Baker, based on HS and AAU ball, is someone who can score and shoot. Not getting him to come leaves a huge hole as Bird and Rabb, 2 of the few scorers, will not be around. Counting on Charlie in a tough, draining conference season, without many supporting scorers, will be brutal.

    Good assesment.

Baker is now a big loss and Cal is now a solid -1 in roster turnover.

BIG PLUS, we now have a coach who does not have one foot out the door .. + a bunch

Is our Aussie recruit known to be a shooter? I know he's not getting much PT now but I mean when he was in HS (or whatever the Aussie equivalent of HS is). It's too bad Knell isn't joining this season.

Don't even count him. Likely transfer to byu before his mission is over.

Baker was a five star masquerading as a four star. Big loss if he doesn't stick, and even bigger loss if he goes to Pac competition.

Three other commits sticking, Lee sticking, Moore sticking. I think those count for something.

Not just scorers, guys who can shoot from outside. We need them. Badly.

Cal fans repetitive expressions of their rooting bias has set the tone for the expectation that J. Baker would have delivered an exceptional performance within the most competitive of the Powr 5 conference environment. This level of expectation for greatness will be very difficult for Baker to achieve wherever he ends up.

Jemarl Baker is an exceptional 3 point shooter, however that is the only facet of the game in which he is exceptional. On the defensive side of the ball he appears to be a liability. Rivals, Scout, ESPN and 247 all rate several shoot guards much higher than Baker.

For example, Daejon Davis and Jaylen Nowell the guys who just left Washington's commit list are consensus 4 star and rated the #'s 45 and #55 best recruits in 2017. Baker is rated consensus 3.7 and only recently entered the top 100 recruits of 2017.
