    SB Cal defeats ND 6-2

Cal started slow both Zoe and defense. Trailed 2-1 after 2 inning with both ND's runs unearned. Cal blew in opened in the 4th with 3 run including a 2 run homer by Jaz. Cal will face the winner of the Auburn vs East Tennessee st. Odds it will be top seeded Auburn. I assume Zoe will pitch again tomorrow. Go Bears!

Disappointing that the first TV game ran over on ESPN2 and as a result Cal game was already in progress and started in the 5th inning. First 5 runs by Cal was not shown on TV. What a shame. Doesn't look like game will be rerun on TV.

It's going to be a busy Saturday. I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens - if we get our game televised at all.

Auburn ties it in the bottom of the 3rd. Cal goes out easily in top of the 4th. Hang in their Zoe!

Clutch 2out hit by Reed to drive in pinch runner Bond from 2nd base. Going into bottom of 6th now.

Cal defeated 4-3 in 9 inn.

In elimination day, Cal will later play the winner of the ND vs East Tennessee state game for the right to play Auburn tomorrow.

Cal defeated 4-3 in 9 inn.

Had to leave before the 7th inning to come back to find out they loss. CoachG of WBB twitted out

"Ok, I'm no college softball expert, but that's 2 terrible calls against @calsb in a critical game. Is replay on the table? #GoBears"

What happened? Did it cost them the game?

Yes, a bad call cost the Bears the game

Bottom of the 6th. Cal leading 3-2. Auburn batting. Runner on second. Two outs. Base hit to left field, runner on second tries to score. Pretty good throw. Laxamana catches it, the ball pops out of her glove, she then catches it with her bare hand. She swiped the runner with the glove (no ball in it) and her hand (the ball securely in it). She made the tag right before the runner touched home plate with her hand. They showed the replay about ten times, from different angles, and every time the announcers said, "she's out."

The ump made a bobbling motion with his hands to suggest the ball was not in possession when the tag was made. But he was dead wrong. With replay, it was easy. It was a fast call, a tough call. But it was wrong. If he gets that call right, the Bears are up by one heading into the 7th inning.

I only witnessed the 6-7-8-9th innings. Cal was leading 3-2... It seemed that the home plate ump was pro-Auburn on balls and strikes calls as well as the *safe* call at home plate to tie the game in the B6th! Laxamana made the tag with the ball in her bare hand and held onto the ball. Easy call to make-the tv announcers both admitted that the call was incorrect. Cal should have won 3-2. Another missed call in the 7th or 8th on a bunt that JJ threw to first base in time by a step that the 1st base ruled safe. It appeared as if it was nearly impossible for the Bears to upset #8 Auburn on their home field with the umps in their hip pocket. What did others think over the initial five innings that I missed? Zoe Conley did a good job but she needs to develop a change-up that she can consistently mix in her pitch selection. She threw one speed
today vs #2 SEC team. GO BEARS!

Notre Dame is ahead 3-0 over East Tennessee State after three innings (after lightning & rain delay). I'm certain that Ninemire will go with Stephanie Trzcinski in the nitecap elimination game. GO BEARS!

She occasionally tried to throw a change but couldn't get it near the strike zone. She definitely showed promise this year. Hope D'Arcy stays to continue working with her.

wow. ETS just tied ND 6-6

I thought we were going to face ND but ETS just hit a 3 run homer to tie it in the 7th inning. Get that hitting coach! Cal was more aggressive at the beginning of the game but went back to being pacify at the plate. Our power hitters 3-6 batters were 0 for ##. Notice one thing about Petit, she swings purely with her arms only. Someone needs to tell her to put more of her body into her swings. New hitting coach ..please.
