Allen Crabbe vs Harrison Barnes ... stats comparison

Some sites had Harrison Barnes as the #1 rated HS recruit last year. His freshman year #'s are very similiar to Crabbe.

    Barnes 13.1 PPG, 1.4 APG, 34% 3's, 5.5 RPG, 0.4 BPG, 0.6 SPG, 41% 2's, 1,15 points per shot

    Allen Crabbe 12.4 PPG, 1.9 APG, 38% 3's, 5.7 RPG, 0.5 BPG, 0.9 SPG, 42% 2's, 1.31 points per shot

Their numbers are nearly identical accross the board, but Crabbe has a higher Points per shot number. Yet Barnes was the more highly rated out of the two recruits.

Interesting. After reading your post, I wondered how they compared in conference play. I had read that Barnes was becoming more effective, and I know Crabbe has. Here's how it breaks down per game:

    Crabbe (10 Games):
    5.7FGM 12.8FGA (44.5&#37, 4.3FTM 5.4FTA (79.6%), 2.6 3PTM 5.7 3PTA (45.6%), 18.3PPG, 6.8 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.6 TOPG, .8 SPG, .2 BPG.

    Barnes (9 Games):
    5.44 FGM 11.89 FGA (45.8%), 2.44 FTM 3.33 FTA (73%), 1.67 3PTM 4.33 3PTA (38.5%), 15 PPG, 5.33 RPG, 0.77 APG, 2.22 TOPG, 0.33 SPG, 0.56 BPG

As you can see, Crabbe leads in almost every category.

Crabbe plays a lot more minutes though (38 per game in conference play vs. 27 for Barnes). Adjusted to 30 minutes, their numbers are:

    Crabbe: 13.1 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.1 turnovers, 0.6 steals, 0.1 blocks

    Barnes: 16.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 2.5 turnovers, 0.4 steals, 0.6 blocks

Of course, Crabbe continues to be a better free throw and 3-point shooter.

That's because Barnes isn't in as good a shape as Crabbe - he gets tired too quickly.
