Lindsay Gottlieb Press Conference Today at 3 pm

    Sandy Barbour tweets:

Looking forward to officially welcoming Lindsay Gottlieb as our new Head Women's Basketball Coach tomorrow (Tuesday) at 3pm press conference.

Anyone know where this is being held, and whether the public is invited? I see no indication yet that it's being webcast.

are usually open to the public. Quite a few well wishers showed up for Monty's announcement. You can call Cal Media relations or the WBB office for where it will be held. Sure hope at least one Bear Insider is there. Hope the questions about retaining Charmin and current players are asked.

It's going to be at Haas, I think in the room with the windows where chalk talks are held? I'm planning to go.

Apparently it will be webcast too (head coach announcement/this from link on Calbears.com) : http://www.calbears.com/allaccess/?media=243101

Not Open to Public, But Webcast Available

From Melissa Dudek, Assistant Media Relations Director:

The press conference is not open to the public. We will be streaming it
    online on CalBears.com.

We also will have an event in the near future that will be open to the
public, but I do not have a date or details for that one yet.

I just re-checked the website and the link to the press conference has just appeared (though it likely won't be activated until shortly before 3 pm).

I'm watching the presser right now, but I already like this hire because LG said she's going to pick Mike Montgomery's brain and LG has a beautiful, genuine smile! GO LG! GO BEARS!

Worked fine for me. Pretty much said Boyle leaving is not a bad thing for the program and Lindsay coming is a very good thing for the program.

as I said in an earlier post, Charmin is planning to stay so Lindsay will be hiring two assistants.

    Did they give specific reasons?

Of course....basically went into a fair amount of depth about the program, expectations, not meeting expectations and thoughts as to why that was. He was very diplomatic, but basically thinks Joanne had difficulty connecting to her players. He doesn't see Gottlieb as having that issue and thinks she brings a lot to the table given her personality and her abilities as a coach. Basically it was a pretty encouraging analysis of where this team can go from here under Lindsay's guidance. Also discussed some aspects of Sandy's situation. Would it have been worth a lot of money to try to keep Boyle from leaving. The consensus was, pretty obviously, "no."

They did. It's probably worth listening to if you have passion for the women's program.

Yes she is alot more comfortable speaking than Joanne. It was hard to listen to Joanne on the coaches corner press conf. I don't think she wanted to be there on those Monday press conferences.
