    WSB: Cal 2 Arizona 0

Cal beats Arizona 2-0. Cal scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th, 1 on a wild pitch, and 1 on a passed ball. Cal had only 2 hits in the game.

And got into scoring position on an error by Fowler. Sometimes you just have to scratch 'em out!
    Access is better than ownership!

    Only 2 hits for Bears....

I know the Bears were limited to 2 hits but how many did Arizona have? I am guessing the Bears must have had solid pitching and defense. Hope the bats wake up for the rest of the series.
    Go Bears!

Baseball Cal super fortunate to escape w/ victory over UofA! (box)

Junior Kenzie Fowler might have pitched her best game since her freshman year and completely shutdown a potent Cal offense. The Bears only mustered two infield hits and won.

Cal's pitching and defense saved the game. Jo Henderson shutout Arizona and struckout ten. She yielded six singles, five to four frosh starters for the Wildcats. UofA has four seniors, four freshmen & one junior in their starting lineup. Their three leading hitters based upon BA% are three rookies: CF Hallie Wilson, SS Shelby Pendley & former Elk Grove star, Chelsea Suitos. Junior Bridgett Del Ponte is their proven run producer in the clutch.

Pendley has to be in the running for Freshman of the Year at shortstop for U of A. She had two hits yesterday against Jolene Henderson. The New Mexico product has fourteen homeruns and only 5 errors on the season.

I also hope Cal's hitters show up today against soph, Shelby Babcock (2.30 ERA). The Bears defeated her last season in Tucson. Babcock has yielded 11 HRs so far this season... The Bear's Val Arioto should have the advantage as long as she can keep her pitches down. 'Zona has 54 HRs in 2012. GO BEARS!
