Cal or Arizona.

Rightfully so.
J.Bird is in the Cal camp so, he is listening to his father.

I think he was a small forward but he may have played before I got interested in Cal basketball.

was a good player on a very talented Cal team that just never gelled. He was a small forward w/ a great corner J, and very athletic. With the right coach, the team could have been pretty good, but I believe back then they only took 16 teams to the NCAA's anyway, so it would have been tough. Bird was a player, though.

Cal also has two opportunities for Bird to land at Cal.
(outside of their control)

A) Shabazz goes to Arizona.
and NBA 2 year rule.*
Then, Bird goes to Cal.

b) Arizona decides to get KR.
Alot of Wildcats are high on KR.
Then, Bird goes to Cal.

(Everyone is already aware that KR wants to be a Wildcat. 110%)

What Bird says in the next month will determine alot of actions by the various staff's. What he says to the coaches.

In 1975 Cal finished 17-9 with 4 JC transfers in the starting lineup. Bird, Connie White, and jay Young were 3 of them. I can't remember who the 4th was.

An early 70s walk-on, best known for the Harry Brown Fan Club which sat under the north basket (this was before the band and Rally Committee were put there). Brown was rotund, but lost about 30 lbs before his senior year and became the sixth man on an under-talented Bear team. Scored 12 points off the bench his first game senior year, and the rooting section went nuts. I saw that game as a kid.

They were expected to be good in '75-'76, but they disappointed. It wasn't a fun team to watch.

It gladdens me to know that Carl Bird has enough good memories of his time at Cal to be able to recommend us to his son. Getting a top-shelf recruit like Jabari Bird would be HUGE.

Maybe Jamaal Wilkes although his shots went in more consistently than Hawthorne's. Most lefties seem to have nice looking jumpers but Hawthorne was the exception.
