I cannot recall any NCAA football team playing seven ranked teams during the regular season.

Hardly a guarantee in football. If some cupcakes lets some of your players heal a bit, and that physically your team is stronger during a conference schedule, then give me one with chocolate frosting. Not to mention the mental part-give me another with coconut frosting...

They have Northwestern at #25 so that would make 7 Top 25 teams.

It will depend on which preseason polls you look at but one which is comparable is LSU - TCU, Florida, Georgia, Bama, Miss State, A&M. Drawing Georgia and Florida in the same year from the SEC East is tough. Not to mention Arkansas, Auburn, and Ole Miss for throw ins. TCU's schedule is not a day at the beach either - the 9 Big 12 schools plus LSU and a decent SMU team. The TCU game is SMU 's biggest game. Cal is right there. At the end of the 2013 season, I suspect one of those three teams will be judged to have the toughest schedule.

I think we did well starting against Tennessee in 2006 and 2007.

Sure, we lost in 2006. But we did win a Pac-10 co-championship that year.

I like kicking off the season against a decent team.

But I'm glad we're not starting against Ohio State next year.

Although I think the killer schedule hurt us a lot in 2007, as some good prognosticators predicted, as we were really beat up on defense by that seventh game - not to mention our QB. If you get beat up too early in the season, you will end up losing games you should not later in the year, unless you have incredible depth, which we don't have, particularly on the lines.

Could easily see us winning only 5 games, even though the team is much improved - Lots of very tough road games next year, in addition to the challenging home schedule.
