Los Angeles-area viewing parties for WSU game - 09-03-2008, 09:15 PM

Currently, there are two places to watch the WSU game in the Los Angeles area:

1. O'Brien's, 2226 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica. Hosted by the West LA Cal Alumni Chapter. Street parking available. RSVP to Wai Lin Yip, wyip25@yahoo.com. (Note: this is the O'Brien's Irish Pub on Wilshire, not the one on Main.)

2. Mr Pockets Sports Bar, 516 N. Sepulveda Blvd, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266, (310) 372-4343. Hosted by Cal Athletics. RSVP to Mark Long, marklong@berkeley.edu, so that Mr Pockets can place the group in an appropriate viewing area.

No viewing party is being planned in the Pasadena area for this game unless someone can come up with something fast. Sorry ....

most bars can't get csn west. every year a couple of alumni associations have a viewing when the game is on csn and end up not being able to get the game. some sports bars naturall assume they can get anything and actually don't make sure they can get csn.

The game is also slated to carried on Fox College Sports Pacific, as well as FSN West is some places (TV Guide's site shows it on FSN West in San Diego, but not in LA).

Lakewood/Long Beach - 09-04-2008, 02:51 PM

Near the Long Beach Airport, we have DirecTv and currently get channel 698. As long as the game isn't blacked out we should be fine..I guess I'll find out when the Cal Sports Report comes on at 2:00.

Most likely poker after the game...Come watch some football, eat some tacos and play some cards. All Bear fans welcome.

Fox Sports Pacific - 09-04-2008, 03:45 PM

I live in Santa Ana and Time Warner Cable channel 258 has the game on Fox Sports Pacific at 3:30pm. Should be able to get the game if you have the sports package on most Time warner systems.

O'Briens was packed at the start of the game... we filled the entire bar and with the great first half, everyone had a great time. I think that by halftime, some people started leaving just because it was such a blowout haha.

They said that next weekend, they'll open at 9am for the Maryland game, and will be serving breakfast along with the beer...

We had a smaller turnout at Mr Pockets, about 35-40 people. That was enough to fill the front area, although there was plenty of room elsewhere in the bar. Just about everyone stayed for the first three quarters.
