The 2011 CSWS will be the FIRST without either of softball's perennial powers, UCLA (14 national championships) & Arizona (10 national crowns). Both teams were eliminated.
Former Archbishop Mitty southpaw, Keilani Ricketts, a sophomore, dominated the UofA Wildcats on their home field over two consecutive games. She nearly pulled off two shutouts but Lini Koria hit a two run off-field homerun with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to break the schneid. Keilani Ricketts also homered in each game against Zona ace, Kenzie Fowler. Former Valley Christian star, Chana'e Jones, rapped out two hits in each contest. This will be the Sooners first appearance in Oklahoma City since 2004.

Oklahoma is also the first visiting team in 2011 to advance to the CSWS. Hopefully, Cal can also pull off that difficult fete tomorrow. Alabama, Arizona State, Florida and Oklahoma State, all Super Regional hosts, have already advanced. Stanford, Oregon & Arizona from the Pac 10 have been sent home. Cal & Washington both begin their Super Regional competition today-Saturday-on the road.
