Upshaw announcing Sunday - 04-13-2012, 09:23 PM

Caught everybody by surprise, including his mom.

He's already made his decision and is visiting the mystery school this weekend.

Looking at the FSU scout board, I saw this:
Quote:
Alexan Balakian was reporting on his show that he spoke to someone from Upshaw's circle and he is on a visit to the school he will be attending and it is a school that he has never visited. He was thinking that he will be going to South Carolina because Upshaw has already visited Fresno St., Gtown, and Lville.
I don't think he has taken an official to Cal, so this could be decent news if true.

Wow. Check out the comment by the Fresno State fan:
Quote:
wrong. he needs to attend fresno state. he is planning this huge event and it will an absolute outrage if he says he is going someplace else.

it will be a betrayal only eclipsed by Claus von Stauffenberg and his role in the Operation Valkyrie plot to overthrow adolf hitler

There is a lot of meth use in Fresno. That explains that.

What DOESN'T Frank Martin do hard?

Quote:
It's apparently not enough for Kansas State basketball coach Frank Martin to push his players around — for which he had to apologize in at least one highly publicized courtside incident last year ("I kind of whacked Chris Merriewether in the side there after that one turnover, and we just talked about that in the locker room," said the Kansas State basketball coach) — or for him to constantly yell and gesture during games. Now he's telling sportswriters the kinds of questions they can and cannot ask.
Guy is old-school hard-ass. Makes Monty look like a choir boy. If Upshaw wants a tough-as-nails mentor with a proven track record of making big men the best they can be, he doesn't have to travel 3000 to East Bunghole to get it. He can travel a few short miles north to Berkeley, and be guaranteed a top-flight education too... something that the USC of the ACC cannot provide.

Since the DB is still down (seriously, what is going on there?) and can't access this kids' info I'll ask the board - does he have the grades to get in?

Uconn could use him with the loss of Oriakhi.

I don't have any clue... - 04-14-2012, 12:39 PM

....where he goes. I just would be really really surprised if it were Cal.
If it's true (big if) that he will trip to a school that he's never gone to and commit on the spot, it sounds like it's one of the elites.

The last two players who did that were Wiltjer and that guy who signed with Kansas. Both players had Cal on their short list, yet when the big dogs swooped in at the last minute, it was all over.....sight unseen.

U-Con can't play in the NCAA Tourney next season, so I doubt it's them.
