Northwestern started the season (6-0) with their only name opponent, Boston College. Then the Wildcats lost on the road to DePaul and their second leading scorer, Maggie Lyon (6'1" frosh), disappeared from the next two box scores. Their senior center and third scorer & top rebounder, 6-5 Dannielle Diamant, lasted only two minutes @ Illinois State in their 2nd loss and DNP in their 3rd consecutive loss at home to Bowling Green.

NW's starting lineup in their last game was made up of two freshmen, two sophomores & their star senior, Kendall Hackney. They mainly employ six players: three 6-2 forwards, a 6'5" post and a Canadian guard. The six player is another guard.

Cal's press might create havoc with this opponent. The Bear posts may have difficulty scoring inside over the Big Ten team's height. Cal also has superior experience over NW...GO BEARS!

Just our "luck" the injured 6'5" center returned in time to play our Cal team and she led NU's team in scoring. But I am glad she played as we need tough opponents for what looks like a possible topsy-turvey PAC 12 conference season (save Stanford). Looks like some of the teams we may have thought would be "door-mats" are actually beating ranked teams. Stay tuned.

Furd, Cal, ucla are a cut above the rest. Colorado can be tough playing home game at altitude. However, Furd, Cal and fucla have good talent to go with good coaching. However, I expect the games to be much tougher and the Pac-12 to show real improvement. So, we can expect upsets. However, if the Bears play smart, they should finish in the top three. Hopefully, we play well enough to stay in the top 12-15 so we can earn a favorable seeding in the tournament. It's all about health, maturity and confidence with this team. Duke is water under the bridge. But, beating Kansas on Friday will help in many ways, now and in the post-season.

They have played the weakest schedule by far of any of the Pac 10 teams. It is the 311th toughest schedule in the country.
