After hosting Oak Grove (Hattiesburg, MS) High School receiver Jordan Duncan this weekend, the Bears reeled in their second commitment of the 2016 recruiting season from Mississippi after tonight's announcement from the 4 star wideout.
The 6-2/195 Duncan's been a productive receiver for Oak Grove to-date, hauling in 65 passes for 926 yards and 10 touchdowns as a soph, followed by 71 receptions for 1,207 yards and 14 td's as a junior in 2014
Duncan's recruitment has been famously-linked to a trio of talented Mississippi receivers including Duncan, Oxford, MS receiver DeKaylin Metcalf and Starkville, MS reciever A.J. Brown, who have talked about playing together as a trio in California.
Jordan announced his commitment tonight on twitter, saying: "My official visit (to Cal) was a lifechanging experience for me and my mother. It was everything and more than I expected.
"With an amazing agreement from my mother, I'm honored and grateful to announce that I've committed to the University of California Berkeley!
"This opportunity will create many doors for me in the future and I'm very excited! (It's a) long way from home, but Cal is the place for me.
"I am blessed beyond measure to be a part of this organization. Great staff, phenomenal school, awesome players and most importantly, great people in the community!
"Thank you Cal Family as a whole organization for everything."
The Bears beat out hometown Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee and a host of other top programs for Duncan's services.
Duncan becomes the second Mississippi player to commit to the Bears this class following last month's commitment from offensive lineman Gentle Wiliams, with special credit going to Kosclusko, Mississippi native Cal wide receivers coach Jacob Peeler for building the Southern connection for Cal.
An excellent student, Duncan sports a 3.9 gpa and plans to be an early enrollee at Cal in January.
