Cal's hiring of former Bear linebacker coach Justin Wilcox in January to be the head coach at Cal has been a popular move so far with fans, players and former Cal players that played for Wilcox in his first stint with the Bears.
Former Cal linebacker Mickey Pimentel was recruited by Wilcox out of Pima CC in Arizona in 2004, playing for the Bears in the 2005 and 2006 seasons.

"I loved playing for him," said Pimentel on Wilcox. He is full of wisdom and energy. You can tell that he has the passion and desire to not only be successful in the game of football but he also wants to see his players maximize their talents and go to the next level and play on Sunday's."

"I have a lot of confidence that Cal will be back on top, not only in the PAC 12 but in the national ranks among the elite in every conference.

Go Bears!"

Former Cal linebacker Eddie Young was recruited by Wilcox out of Berkeley High in 2004, going on to play for the Bears from 2005-2009.

"I love the move," said Young. "Wilcox was an awesome young and enthusiastic coach when he recruited me during his time at Cal.

"Playing for him, we always were prepared hungry and motivated to go out there and play bigger than ourselves. Now coming back to Berkeley, he brings a ton of big time defensive experience to the Bears.

"I'm really excited for Coach Wilcox and the new staff he put together."
