Cal men's basketball kicked off their 2018 recruiting class with a bang with a commitment today from consensus 6-7/210 4 star Global Learning Village Charter (Houston, TX) forward Jacobi Gordon.

Gordon announced his commitment today via Twitter:

"First and foremost, giving all glory to our Lord Jesus Christ for his blessings, love and wisdom.

"A very special thanks to my mom and pops for all their sacrifices, unconditional love, support and guidance.

"Finally, giving thanks to my past and present coaches and trainers that believe in my and have assisted me through this journey, specifically Christ Walker, Coach Golden Corner, Coach Gilbert Good, Coach DeMarcus Peterson and Brandon Ennis.

"After careful consideration and prayer, I have verbally committed to continue my college education as a student athlete at the University of California Berkeley.

"Thanks to all the coaches at Cal who recruited me and helping me with this process. #TogetherWeAttack #GoldenBears

An excellent student, Gordon currently maintains a 3.7 gpa.

Gordon averaged 20.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game his junior season at Chris Walker Academy.

Cal assistant coach Chris Walker played a big role in Gordon's commitment, building on the relationship established while coaching the Houston prep star in AAU play for several years.

The Bears beat out Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Connecticut, Oregon and more for Gordon's services.
