2012 Cal recruit Maurice Bennett informed The Bear Insider that he's enrolling in East Mississippi junior college this fall and will attempt to qualify to enter Cal in January for spring semester.

I was 100 points short on the SAT of where Cal wanted me to be and 2 short on the ACT so I'll be going to East Miss this fall," said Bennett.

"After a semester, I should be good to go in January and plan to go up there (to Cal) then."

After being recruited by new Cal defensive line coach at Washington State, Bennett was a late addition to Cal's 2012 class in February before the latest news.

It's not clear 6-1/295 Madison Central (Madison, MS) nose tackle met the NCAA minimum for qualifying. If not, he'd be required to obtain his AA before enrolling.
