New Cal shooting guard commit Austin McCullough
With only five returning scholarship players and four incoming signees, the Bears were looking for more depth and perimeter scoring. They netted both in 6-5/185 Central Portage (Portage, MI) shooting guard Austin McCullough's commitment today.

McCullough announced his commitment today via Twitter, saying:

"I would like to thank God for blessing me with health and the ability to play the great game of basketball.

"I've had some of the best moments of my life playing this game and it's good to know that all my hard work has paid off.

"I want to thank my family as well as Coach Hans Jones for helping me during this time.

"I'm happy to announce that I'll be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of California Berkeley. GO BEARS!!"

McCullough led his Central Portage squad to a 17-4 record, setting the school's all-time career scoring record in the process, shooting an impressive 52% from the floor and 45% from 3-point range.

A two-sport athlete, McCullough also stood out on the gridiron, hauling in 17 receptions for 419 yards and an impressive 24.6 yard per catch average, along with four touchdowns. The senior also played quarterback earlier in high school, as well.

McCullough will join fellow incoming classmates Deschon Winston, Justice Sueing, Jahwan Harris-Dyson and Grant Anticevich next month in Berkeley for summer bridge and workouts.

Stay tuned for more on McCullough's commitment.
