Nice pod, Rod! I enjoy hearing you talk Xs and Os, since a lot of us fans think more emotionally about games and the team, and less about technical analysis. I'd love to see you do some video breakdown, great idea!

I'm curious, have you asked the staff, either directly or through an intermediary, why the team hasn't played any zone defense?

I haven't had a chance to listen in yet, but will do. Did Rod say that the reason why couldn't stop a damn runner was not switching to zone?

Basically. Rod also said the way we're playing defense now, we might as well play zone.

Seems like Rod's lobbying for a zone defense made its way through to Madsen as we saw it in the last game, but it was a disaster. Hard to go from never using it, to solely using it, but still, maybe it was just a bad idea worth a try? In general, the way to beat a zone is with great shooting. Why, if 3pt defense is our biggest problem, would switching to a zone help remedy that? Seems like it just makes it worse. And it did. The problem doesn't seem to be our defensive scheming, but the fact that all but one of our players is incapable of playing, or unwilling to play, solid defense.
