Segregating the worst season in Cal history from the rest of Sonny's tenure warps the decision to fire him into something less justified than it was. If you go 1-11 then you'd better do some incredibly impressive work after that or you deserve to be canned. Obviously that incredibly impressive work was never delivered.upsetof86 said:kal kommie said:Right, he didn't deserve to be fired by those other schoolsupsetof86 said:kal kommie said:19-30Bobodeluxe said:

Im saying 19-30 is a disingenuous way to portray his ability as a coach - at Cal, or his potential to win more at Cal or his ability as a coach in general. Was a misfit apparent at Cal? Yes by all accounts, but it is clear it became a very mutual feeling and Cal pulled the plug first.

2013 happened and ever since then there's been campaign by Sonny's admirers to pardon him for it or otherwise exclude it from the conversation over how bad he was here. His record at Cal was 19-30 and he justly merited being fired for it and the worst four years of defense ever played here, to say nothing of the obvious fact that he didn't want to be here.
