What does that do for the team????
Bring back bottled beer and cigars at CMS. Should get us back in the Rose Bowl!

Send as many emails or letters to Wilcox as you want. But the kids have absolutely played their hearts out. They deserve nothing but our full support

Before, no reason.

If we lose to them, ok

Total ****** move to boo college kids. And that's what you'd be doing as booing Wilcox isn't discernible from booing the team.

Go to a pro venue where you can blow it out your big tuba.

no boos in game. we're better than that. but you can complain on message boards about the staff

While NIL has made players a bit more open targets for individual criticism, it's still bad form to boo your own team. They are out there trying their best to win. And however bad we feel when we lose, the players and the staff mostly feel worse. That said, at the end of the first half yesterday, I booed the TV.

I have heard the claim that Wilcox is just picking up his check. Say what you will about the job he is doing -- and you will -- but it is dumb to say he doesn't care.

In the 1960's, Cal fans had a cheer for Marv Levy (who eventually moved on to the NFL, 4 consecutive super bowls, and the HOF):

Coach
Coach Marv
Coach Marv Leave.

Now we tolerate and expect incompetence that at best can bring mediocrity.

I booed, once, at a game (away, @ Az St). Was some boneheaded coaching decision, if I remember. Then I realized I was sitting amongst player's families. Kids (yes, kids) who were playing their hearts out , representing OUR university

Vowed then I'll never do that again

I won't be booing anyone but he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt from me anymore. If he truly cared he would have tried to correct course by now. He has some great lawyers who negotiated his contract though. He clearly cared about every last detail of that agreement.

If only he had that same killer instinct when coaching.

Don't boo at the game. Our players don't deserve that, even if Wilcox does. Better to get people in your section to join you in a "WILCOX YOU SUCK!" yell.

It's Year Eight: He shouldn't be getting the benefit of the doubt anymore.

There were reports here that he was not using an agent when he got his six-year extension that we gave him.

Point is the Bears are struggling and miserable. Meanwhile Wilcox is doing just fine.

In any event, we agreed to the contract. I remember thinking, "Why that long of an extension for a coach that has already been here for four years (or was it five) and has somewhat underperformed at that?"

But it was a unique time, what with COVID and the CoB and all that. Then, the report of him turning down Oregon to stay with us and... we felt so grateful! It was like we were the ugly chick that got asked to dance by the average guy.

"Somewhat underperformed"? How about "completely underperformed"!

It's perfectly fine to boo in response to when (not if) Wilcox makes another gutless call. Our players are smart enough to understand that we're not booing them; we're booing the coach.

I remember the chorus of boos raining down on tedford after his gutless decisions and all of the gaslighting from admin and donors talking about disrespecting the players. If a coach deserves boos, a coach deserves boos.

Pre NIL, sure.

Post NIL boo. If they want to be treated like professionals, it comes with higher expectations.

I won't boo. Who has the energy for that. I just won't go to the game.

1. There is no such thing as a college kid.
2. They get paid to play. Not to go to school.

Wilcox's $4 million plus a year makes him one of the most highly paid state employees. Booing is a voice against government waste.

If you want to do something to show your displeasure with Wilcox without being hard on young kids (even though some of them get paid now, I'm not cool with booing kids), start this cheer after Cal's first TD.

Would you boo an 8-4 record? How 'bout 7-5?

Sorry, I won't boo but many of these 'college kids' are getting paid to play. Or have I misunderstood NIL?

I only boo bad calls by referees. That said, the new world in which NIL plus the transfer portal makes all athletes free agents leaves my feeling alienated from the sport and the team I have faithfully followed for almost 50 years. College football no longer has much to do with college and players are here today and could be gone tomorrow to which ever team makes them the most attractive offer. That's great for the athletes and I certainly don't blame them for getting the best deal they can, but it challenges me as a fan.

Completely underperforming would be zero wins, not a few plays at the end of games to go undefeated.

I've just read the rest of the comments in this thread.
As you've been so thoroughly rebuked, I nominate this as WORST POST OF THE YEAR.

"Hey everybody! Let's go to the game Saturday so we can boo our team! Won't that be fun?"

I can't imagine many doing this. Everyone around us the alumni section were pretty resigned to, "Well, that's Cal football " after Miami. Heard no boos or even loud fans. I can't imagine students doing this. They've got a party to get to after the game. That leaves the end zones. Don't know who's there. I'm more likely to boo the f-ing rap blasting two hours before the game when no players are on the field and only us old people are seated trying to enjoy the day.
