With the exception of Mendoza the transfers have not exceeded their Cal success. The best of them is Nyziah Hunter who has equaled his Cal success. For many its clear that they realize their NFL prospects are nil and they should grab as much NIL $ as they can before they play in Canada.
Holmoe and Wilcox are not equivalent. Holmoe never beat Stanfurd or went to a bowl game. Cal got put on probation for academic stuff that happened on Holmoe's watch.

Don't you think he would have had more success and better results and ultimately higher visibility as JKS' primary target?
We could have been 7-3 or 8-2 and still in the ACC championship hunt with a reliable receiver to complement our current crew.

We can agree that WR1 at Florida often is better than WR1 at Cal though not this year after looking DeJesus' production. Problem is Strudivant hasn't been WR1 anywhere other than Cal, including not being WR1 at Florida, and he certainly isn't getting drafted or much NIL.
At Cal he had 65 receptions and 755 yards and his production has been dropping ever since. Lucky if he even get 25 catches this year.

That suggests that Burl Toler was a good WR coach for Cal. Not only did he recruit 4 star WRs to Cal (our highest rated recruits at any position), but they were also productive here, despite the bad offenses.

Holmoe faced Stanford teams that went to a Rose Bowl. Wilcox has faced Stanford teams that are among the worst in the country. Holmoe faced schedules that were among the toughest in the country. Wilcox has faced schedules that are among the easiest in P5. The result is that Holmoe's teams ranked better than Wilcox's overall.
This year is one of Wilcox's most successful teams and is ranked #75 in Sagarin, which is worse than Holmoe's first 4 teams (#58, #53, #64 and #61) and is only better than his disastrous final team (#115).
The bottom line is Holmoe and Wilcox are very comparable, with no team better than #50, always finishing in the bottom half of the conference. Wilcox is just benefiting from easier scheduling and the incompetence of Jim Knowlton.

Coach Justin earned another full season at the helm at the precise moment he reached the DECISIVE mark of GLORY, that is 5 WINS, when he barely beat now 4-6 North Carolina. The losses to VT & UV didn't matter in the least. Bears can lose the next 3 games including handing over the axe and in the Podunk Bowl in Dingleberry, Arkansaw, and finish 3-5 in conference and it won't matter at all.
5 WINS is the Cal mark of GLORY.

We beat Houston and Oklahoma. imagine if instead of Nebraska we added an FCS school and a cream puff for two easy wins like we have been doing with Wilcox? That would have made Holmoe 7-5 that year with a win over a ranked USC and losses to ranked UCLA and Arizona. Easily a bowl team with a Wilcox schedule.
The next year our OOC was Rutgers, @#5 Nebraska and @#24 BYU. We beat Rutgers and lost the other two. Imagine we replace Nebraska and BYU with an FCS and 2 G5 teams?

I completely agree. Wilcox is no better than Holmoe. They were/are both terrible head football coaches.

I will be at the game at Stanfurd Stadium on Saturday, Shock. And I will celebrate our 7th win along with thousands of other Bear fans in attendance. But we should expect better than 7 wins. I want a future where 9 and 10 wins are the norm, and that will never happen under Wilcox.

I mean that is, fundamentally the problem.
1) The idea that Cal can be a perennial double digit winner belies how actually college football works with really only perhaps a handful of programs averaging above 8 or 9 wins over a prolonged periods of years. If you look at THOSE programs (Alabama, Oregon, tOSU) at least I would argue the team wags the dog that is the university. The highest winning percentage right now is Michigan at .733 which translates to 9 and 3 to 8-4 over the course of 12 games.
2) But there is pretty compelling narrative that Cal has to do this or better over some short period of time to get included in the next round of realignment. That is such a difficult crystal ball to figure out - up to and including bombshells like the B1G Private Equity saga.
3) Add in that this is not a particularly good era to be going to the Regents asking for an 8 figure bet. I was more optimistic up to last week when UCLA is positioning the regents to take a HUGE gamble in breaking the Rose Bowl lease. I just can't see them backing that bet _AND_ taking an 8 figure gamble on the next UCLA coach AND committing another 8 figures to Cal's next head coach when Wilcox could finish with possible _9_ victories this year. Add in that near as I can tell UCLA has "juice" on the regents but Cal does not. That is a real problem for team relevance and if you want to really advance ICA at Cal you HAVE to engage in a long term strategy to get a Cal-centric Regent appointed who cares about Cal Football. Protip - that is going to be a well placed person who donated gazzillions to democratic politicians and/or who has juice with labor.
more importantly coach anae starting 4.0 gpa bastian swinney at center has not only improved the snaps to 3.75 gpa jaron keawe sagapolutele to keep the cal offense in rhythm but it's also allowed 3.8 gpa tyson ruffins to move back to his much more natural guard position & play with greater violence without worrying about snaps & ****
if cal's newsy revamped monster offensive line can control the line of scrimmage against a not deep stanford d-line then that will create opportunities in the rushing game while giving jks time to do this thing in the downfield vertical passing game while chewing up minutes on the clock and keep the cal d off the field
fall saturday rivalry games at the opponent's stadium are exciting but storming the field after a victory is EPIC!!
if cal's newsy revamped monster offensive line can control the line of scrimmage against a not deep stanford d-line then that will create opportunities in the rushing game while giving jks time to do this thing in the downfield vertical passing game while chewing up minutes on the clock and keep the cal d off the field

Our new starting OL is obviously improved over its predecessors, but it's still no better than average on pass protection and below average on run blocking. OL recruiting is one of the many deficiencies of this Cal coaching staff. I'd love to see what JKS could do behind a first class OL, and I hope he doesn't have to transfer to another school to experience it.
I do believe Cal could achieve 9 or 10 wins under a good head coach. We did it three times under Jeff Tedford (2004, 2006, and 2008) with crappy facilities and an unsupportive administration. It just takes the right coach, and Wilcox isn't it.

RR does a lot more than fring and hiring football coaches. He is trying to get us to 8/9+ wins every year despite who we are.

I feel like it might have been Isaac Curtis in 1973. 15th pick in the 1st Round. 12 seasons with the Bengals. 3x 2nd team all-pro, 4 pro bowls, 416 receptions for 7,101 yards, and 53 touchdowns.

You forgot (from my college days onward) Bobby Shaw, Marvin Jones, Lavelle Hawkins, Chase Lyman, Dameane Douglas, Trevor Davis, Kenny Lawler, and Chad Hansen. That said, it's been about a decade since Cal WR was drafted. I still think if J Mike had stayed at Cal, he would've been a draft pick. But he chose to take his talents elsewhere (twice).

I'm convinced had Chase Lyman not had that knee injury, he has a decently long NFL career.
