That is not the issue Shocky. The issue is Wilcox doing the same stuff. Whenever we get something good it never stays. Fernando Mendoza, Jaydn Ott, Jet Thomas, Endries, Makai Polk, and the list goes on. Oh and the ineptness of the "MONSTER" offensive line. Justin Wilcox has let #aye run an OLine that folds like a bunch of cheap lawn chairs. So was last year. How do you whiff on so many offensive linemen ? And this year, it took JW 9 games to get that OLine corrected. I mean Ruffin was snapping the ball sideways and above a 6'3 quarterback. Every year, every year the MONSTER Offensive line just folds on their butt (however coach anae is slightly better).
Sturdivant's career went to crap
WR1 at Florida is still better than WR1 at Cal in terms of recruiting prospects. On top of all the NIL he's received since he left
Disagree, Florida is 3-7, and I doubt their QB is in the same league as JKS. His NFL prospects would have been far better at Cal.

Florida is regularly watched by 5-6 million a game while we may be lucky to get a 1 million viewer game a season. He would be a virtual unknown at Cal. When was the last we sent a WR to the draft?

We can agree that WR1 at Florida often is better than WR1 at Cal though not this year after looking DeJesus' production. Problem is Strudivant hasn't been WR1 anywhere other than Cal, including not being WR1 at Florida, and he certainly isn't getting drafted or much NIL.
At Cal he had 65 receptions and 755 yards and his production has been dropping ever since. Lucky if he even get 25 catches this year.

He should be. If he loses the Big Game he is gone IMO. He probably also has to beat SMU, but then again, what the F do I know? Most AD's (or GM's) want their own guy.

That really has little to do with the draft.
Believe me, NFL scouts know where the players are. Plus the combine.

In the Holmoe era, there weren't 5000 bowl games like there are now. Holmoe would have never gotten us into a crappy bowl game with only 6 wins.
calumnus said:
In 1998, Holmoe's second year, our OOC schedule was Houston, #4 Nebraska and @Oklahoma.
We beat Houston and Oklahoma. imagine if instead of Nebraska we added an FCS school and a cream puff for two easy wins like we have been doing with Wilcox? That would have made Holmoe 7-5 that year with a win over a ranked USC and losses to ranked UCLA and Arizona. Easily a bowl team with a Wilcox schedule.
The next year our OOC was Rutgers, @#5 Nebraska and @#24 BYU. We beat Rutgers and lost the other two. Imagine we replace Nebraska and BYU with an FCS and 2 G5 teams?
We beat USC, UCLA and ASU that year. That team could have been 7-5 and in a bowl with Wilcox's OOC scheduling.
People who look at Wilcox's overall record (still below .500) generally ignore how much easier his OOC scheduling has been, plus our now easier ACC conference schedule. Even with that he still loses nearly twice as many conference games as he wins.
He is basically Tom Holmoe with weaker scheduling and a longer contract.

^ golden one, u might wanna get ur eyeore depression meds checked this week, there's a football game with the potential for a 7th win being played this week in palo alto with a generation talent lefty bears qb1!!
kinda funny how the cal tv "fans" never discuss ACTUAL football games, they are stuck in the past with their now irrelevant memories of **** nobody cares about any more
this game will be largest decided by cal's monster offensive line which successfully started 4 new guys last week including unsung senior bastian swiinny at center who delivered the rock with accurate placement to JARON KEAWE SAGAPOLUTELE!!

shocky is a very optimistic person but if ur expectation are 9/10 wins every season ur gonna be disappointed as there's no high gpa school on planet earth that's gonna fulfill ur fantasy
and that's ok, the crimson tide with its disposable low gpa factory workers are always looking for new fans!!
what's ur take on coach anae's new starting 5 o-line??

Would Notre Dame and possibly Michigan be the only two high academic schools in the country that routinely win 10+ games?

minot, wut's the average high school gpa of msu??
is everybody excited to new starting center bastian swinney can continue to deliver the rock on the money to jaron this saturday afternoon in palo alto??

curious how ur plan of firing wilcox works out from a financial perspective of paying off $15,000,000 in salaries & then hiring a new staff for another $15,000,000 in new salaries and still having $15,500,000 for nil funding while assembling this staff before the critical early january 10 day transfer portal window?
and do you have an actual name for this mythical coach that is willing to forego recruiting 2.5 gpa +1 athletes to be limited by berkeley's academic requirements with respects to gpas??
if u don't have a name then ur just talking outta ur azz and there's nothing wrong with that but it probably makes breathing kinda difficult or something

Shocky, by that logic we should have kept Knowlton and should not be wasting money on Rivera.
So do you advocate extending Wilcox or just playing out his contract without any extension?

I feel like it might have been Isaac Curtis in 1973. 15th pick in the 1st Round. 12 seasons with the Bengals. 3x 2nd team all-pro, 4 pro bowls, 416 receptions for 7,101 yards, and 53 touchdowns.

You forgot (from my college days onward) Bobby Shaw, Marvin Jones, Lavelle Hawkins, Chase Lyman, Dameane Douglas, Trevor Davis, Kenny Lawler, and Chad Hansen. That said, it's been about a decade since Cal WR was drafted. I still think if J Mike had stayed at Cal, he would've been a draft pick. But he chose to take his talents elsewhere (twice).
