Just won Big 12 Offensive Freshman of The Year

Kid is not that mobile. In about the same amount of playing time, his blue chip co starter competition was sacked 9 times. Mayfield was sacked 25 times - 9 in Texas game alone which reallly highlighted his weakness and why he was a walk on.

especially as a walkon. The other true freshman QB had almost the exact same numbers and a bit higher QB rating. They both looked like they played about the same number of snaps. Interesting that the Big 12 gave Baker the freshman of the year award and not the other kid.

Yes some controversy about his selection but the truth is it was a down year in the conference and don't hold me to this but. I think his record as a starter was a couple of games better than the other guy.

I really think Kingsbury liked Mayfield but came to realize he could not win big with him.
