Wow, I didn't realize we were playing Wazzu for the rest of the year, thanks for the heads up.

At the very least I'd like to see our d-line and blitzing LBs take a few more chances on passing downs. We seem to be back in the Bob Gregory mode where it is 'illegal' for a pass rushing player to go around (if not completely around then just off a shoulder/edge) a blocker. All of our guys directly engage the blockers (great for run defense) and then can't get off them to rush the passer. On passing downs I'd love to see our DEs start wider and take a chance by attacking edges rather than attacking the blocker. Once we get bigger, stronger, faster then by all means take on the blockers head-on and then shed them. Right now we can't shed.

There's a few posters here that would take the under on that line

Our defense will get better next season. Just like our offense did this season. You don't get instant gratification, player's need to learn the system and weaknesses need to be shored up. Until you're able to get decent/good performances from all your groups, your game planning options are limited.

I guess the Furd game has shown that more pressure on Halliday would have helped, it's not like he could have torched us more than he did. A more aggressive D which might lead to more big plays but also more killed drives is better suited for us given our explosive offense.

And by "future," you mean "this season, in games where our best safety is injured." Kaufman loves blitzes, he's had to dial it wayyyyy back bc of our secondary issues.

Both Buh and Kaufmam have squandered the gifts left by the astute recruiting of the previous coaches.

Must be nice to have the #1 scoring defense in FBS.

Buh had better talent than Kaufman. A combo of wrong system, injuries and an inability to convince the players to buy in led to his demise along with awful game plans. He had some guys who got cups if coffee in the nfl. Ak would love to have McCain fortt and Coleman

1) Avery
2) Mc clure
3) Get rid of bend but don't break
4) Have Art review Stanford's aggressive play against a passing Offense and replicate it.

There is hope, just no chance all four will be implemented.

they won't get better unless they recruit better talent... Beyond the former JT guys there is not much left.

I think we blitzed enough against wsu...we just didn't execute. Our blitzes were picked up so either the blitzed and d-line didn't coordinate or we didn't disguise the blitze well enough. This can be fixed. Blitzes have to succeed most of the time.
