Then that explains it. Kind of nice for a bunch of recruits see our win plus in-the-flesh NFL alumni at the game.Redonkulous Bear said:
Yeah the Jets were playing in Oakland on Sunday.

They certainly did. I googled Mississippi State Troopers:LunchTime said:

Probably they cant make arrests. It is just for show. I am pretty sure they can be in uniform and carry a firearm because states reciprocate LEOs carrying, or maybe its an federal thing. I know they used to be able to carry on flights. Maybe still?GMP said:They certainly did. I googled Mississippi State Troopers:LunchTime said:

Same uniform and shoulder patch logo. How in the world is this legal?
I read that the only other time Ole Miss has come to California for a football game is against Fresno State in 2011. And after having seen all the social media of the Ole Miss team and fans enjoying the sights of Berkeley and San Francisco Bay (hat tip to Okaydo), I couldn't help but think that they must have been surprised at the differences between Fresno and Berkeley and surroundings, given that we are in the same state.MoragaBear said:
All the beautiful scenery both outside and inside the stadium must've baffled all those Mississippians expecting Berkeley to be a hippy-ridden slum.
Are we scared of coach on coach violence?Olee Berkeley-eye said:
It seems to be a tradition in the South for the visiting team to bring along state troopers from their home state. You see this especially in the SEC, for example, with Alabama troopers guarding Lou Saban like G-men for the postgame handshake. The smokey-the-bear hats make them stand out. Bringing their own troopers seems like both a show of force for the team and a symbol of how much importance they place on football in the South, like the head coach is some sort of god-king attended by Praetorian guards.
To my knowledge the Pac doesn't do this. I've never noticed Cal coaches being escorted around by CHP officers at away games. It's a foolish expense anyway, when you can use local police.
