Rugged running back Chris Brown, who had a frustrating season after a great 2016 campaign, came up big when his El Camino teammates needed him most.
Brown ran for a pair of touchdowns, then handled the ball on 11 of 12 plays at the end of the game as the Wildcats killed the clock and beat Eastlake 20-10 late Friday night to claim the San Diego Section Division I football championship before 7,125 fans at Southwestern College.
"I love this atmosphere," Brown said. "It was hard, but you've got to get through it. I love these guys."
On his first carry from scrimmage, Brown took a handoff, cut right, broke a tackle and sprinted 50 yards for a score to give the Wildcats the early 7-0 lead. Just before the half, Brown bulled his way into the end zone from 16 yards out to give El Camino a 20-3 lead. With the game in the balance with 5:24 to play, he took 11 handoffs and gained 48 yards as every second of the 5:24 ticked away.
Brown finished with 19 carries for 138 yards.recovery to forge a 20-3 halftime lead.
El Camino last won a section title in 1999.

Corrections: El Camino plays Crenshaw for the SoCal 4AA championship and the right to play the North winner in the state championship finals. And his commitment announcement wasn't "per bleacher report." Per Brown himself on twitter.
Nice to get both Adams and Brown. Let's finish strong.
So now we have a big back to go along with an average size back? Cal is now stacked at RB. LET'S get back to the D and O lines plus a tight end.
Great pickup!! Hopefully we can redshirt these guys and build them up

Outside of a couple players, the front 7's the main focus now.

I read that Rivals has us as 22nd best recruiting class in the nation.

Also, per Rivals, Brown was the 50th rated recruit in California and the #1 ranked California RB.Bear8 said:

A related question: when do the recruiting services finalize their player rankings? Seems like guys are still being evaluated, and there will be a few more senior-season highlight reels, winter camps, etc to get things lined up before signing day.
