Oskirules told me "Making light of a situation in this manner where people's lives are currently on the line is in poor taste, even on a college football board."

I won't say "I apologize if anyone was offended." Every time I read or hear someone use that type of phrase, I really hear "So, I'm not really apologizing...I'm putting the onus on those who were supposedly offended."
I haven't been posting again until fairly recently, but I've been on the board for a long time. Long engough to know that when Bearister and TheSouseFamily aren't throwing down some funny remarks between each during a thread.....it's serious.
So:
I'm sorry. I apologize. I messed up. I feel badly about it.

No harm done, BEARUP! One of the interesting aspects of the Thai cave situation is the emotional response of much of the world to the plight of these kids. And yet, while all this was going on, a ferry carrying more than 100 tourists capsized in Thailand, killing about 50 people. And this barely got a blip in news coverage despite being an objectively more significant loss of life and tragedy. But we don't seem to care much about that. The power of images, especially those of young children, combined with a healthy dose of drama/suspense is what makes this infinitely more compelling to most people. It just goes to show how responsive we are to captivating imagery and, in some ways, how our responses are easily manipulated by what we can see.

Love seeing anyone own up to mistakes. We all make them. Fortunately it's just on a sports message board.

I don't know what you said about the Thai cave boys, but whatever you said, there is absolutely no need to apologize. I personally don't give a flying rat's ass about the Thai cave boys, and to say otherwise would be hypocritical. I feel that anyone who watches the news porn hawked by the 24/7 news cycle is a fool.

I bet you all were captivated by the Summer of the Shark Attack, and were transfixed by Malaysian Flight who gives a ****. I can't relate to you. Go out and enjoy the sunshine.

Harsh, Chapman. Nothing wrong to show some respect to the unfortunate kids trapped in a cave filled/filling with water. Are there other tragedies going on at the same time? Yes, of course. But that doesn't invalidate concern beyond "a flying rat's ass" that someone might express for these kids & a favorable outcome.

Agree. Sad that there are people who only care if a tragedy happen on American soil, but given the current climate of things, it's not surprising. There are soulless people out there.

I think the world's response has a lot more to do with there fact that kids are still alive. Not much can be done about the 50 tourists who died.

BREAKING NEWS!

Chapman secretly observed giving a flying rats ass about the Thai 12!! Observer reports that Chapman said "Glad they made it out of the cave safely."

However, some skepticism may be warranted in that Chapman was observed talking to a beautiful woman in a bar when he uttered the positive words.

More as this shocking story developes.
