"amplify student-athletes and their experiences."

Seems like someone needs to explain opportunity cost to this dude. P12N is underproducing on profits not just from carriage issues, but because they spend too much producing events no one watches. The pertinent question is whether it's worth a few million per year (per school) to promote non-rev sports. Is that differenet if the number is $1 million? $5 million? Etc.

Content no one watches is not good for driving up demand either.

So he should work for a minimal salary, right?

Yes.

Also, because Larry Scott tries to justify making twice as much money as the Big Ten commissioner by calling himself a "media executive," then Larry's salary should also be reduced to that of the head of a regional non-profit media outlet. For example, the CEO of KQED, the public radio/TV outlets in SF, makes about $470,000/year. I suspect we'd find that KQED's TV station has more viewers than Pac-12 Networks, so maybe $470,000 should be the ceiling for Larry's salary.

That is one of those things you say to shut down criticism.

We all know the goal of college sports should be to enhance the experience of the student athlete. We all know that it isn't. But people feel "dirty" claiming otherwise.

Even within that context, however, if the goal of college athletics is to enhance student athlete experiences, the goal of the Pac-12 Network is to make money so those experiences can be enhanced. Otherwise post the games on youtube so Mommy and Daddy can watch and leave it at that.

And, yes, with what Scott makes this is a completely tone deaf statement. Would be curious to know what the universities think of this statement.

Ridiculous spin by an oxygen thief.

Scott has been stealing a small fortune while accomplishing next to nothing.

These guys are thiefs and clueless and the same time.

Clueless because neither Shuken nor Scott realize that statements like these make them even more of a laughingstock than they already were.

Everyone except the Pac-12 presidents and chancellors knows that these clowns should have been fired already.
