LOT of points being given up by that Beaver defense. Beau???LMK5 said:
#13 Utah walloped OSU 52-7. Cal lost to #13 Oregon by 10. Does that infer a decisive Cal win? What does it say about UCLA after having lost to OSU 48-31?
Last year, we were reeling coming out of that huge ugly loss to UCLA, and the Beavs were just what we ---especially the offense --- needed, taking a 49-7 win at Reser, and following up the next week with that great win over then #13 Washington (the beginning of our streak against rated Washington!).Cal89 said:
The Beavs get about two sacks a game, about average, much less pressure than the Ducks though. The Beavs D allows opposing QBs to complete passes over 66% of the time, 11th worst in the conference. This should be a good game for Modster and the passing game to grow...
I remember that one. Just what the doctor ordered, and hopefully again this season, this Saturday...YamhillBear said:Last year, we were reeling coming out of that huge ugly loss to UCLA, and the Beavs were just what we ---especially the offense --- needed, taking a 49-7 win at Reser, and following up the next week with that great win over then #13 Washington (the beginning of our streak against rated Washington!).Cal89 said:

Not much better than a strong running game to help a QB get established in an offense...Bear8 said:
Here come Brown and Dancy. We may see a bit of Collins as well.
Curious, why don't you see a win against furd or $c? What are those teams doing that impress you?Uthaithani said:
Even Cal's pitiful offense should look good against Oregon State. And I have a hard time imagining Cal's defense giving the Beavers anything. Should be a similar blowout to last season, and about as meaningless. But there is still sleeping in and not going to work as things to look forward to on Saturday, not all is lost.
I really like the Bears' chances against UCLA and WSU looks promising, too, given the trajectory of those programs. Don't see the Bears beating Utah, SC or Furd (bye bye Axe for another year). So basically Wilcox brings the seven-win magic of his old mentor Steve Sarkesian to Berkeley.
And lucky seven will probably be enough for Wilcox to justify keeping Baldwin & Co around, since it's obvious JW doesn't give a rat's backside about offense (or actually being relevant in the conference), so long as the program is just this much above .500
