Since it's an 11:30 am kickoff on Saturday, gonna need to find a good spot for Mimosas with breakfast. Any suggestions that are on University Ave or within walking distance to the stadium?

Rick and Anns is breakfast and be prepared for possible family seating. Our favorite morning spot in Berkeley btw. There can be a wait, especially on game day.

Skates in the Marina does a decent brunch on Sundays, not sure about Saturday.

Good ones.

On University there is Au Coquelet which has $16 bottomless mimosas:

LaNote is so good you might run late and stick around until halftime.

Yes, there can be a wait...and perhaps no alcohol given it's breakfast?

That beats the $13 beers at Memorial...so load up pre-game! I always liked Au Coquelet because it's one of the few places in Berkeley open late, like bar hours. The front is basic Cal study hall scene...but the back is nice enough, decent food if not hipster fare.

I would add Bette's Oceanviee Diner to the list of already mentioned good options

The Brady Brunch at 4576 Putin Way is pretty good.

You should try the Marcia.

Venus is over priced IMHO. Like Rick and Ann's as well. Know Ann and her ex "not rick", and dog( he, the dog a huge mastiff was sick the last time I saw him). May need to check out Au Coquelet

Homemade Cafe with the breakfast burger and pecan waffle (look it up!). Also, Crepevine and Sconehenge!

Top Dog. I recommend the Hot Link which pairs especially well with a morning Bloody Mary.

Some that haven't been mentioned:

Walking distance to stadium (somewhat) - Guerilla Cafe on Shattuck and Cedar. Great polenta.

Not walking distance: Royal Cafe in Albany, on San Pablo Ave. and Solano Ave. Great fried chicken.

I don't recall there ever being booze at breakfast. The food is outstanding.

for any out of town visitors, best place to stay is the Claremont hotel...

then breakfast/brunch at Rick & Ann's, coffee at Peets, and a slice of german bread to go from one of the best bakeries in the bay area (all three places are right next to each other, and just a short walk through the Claremont parking lot)

A great, great brunch spot is 900 Grayson in West Berkeley:

Can't believe Au Coquelet is still open. That place was my hang back in the day.

Rick and Ann's definitely has mimosas, Skates doesn't open until 11. La Note has mimosas. Have not been to Venus in years.

"not even close"...hmm Bette's is meh and the crowd and lines are annoying and menu uninspired.

it was arguably one of the best pre wwii eateries in town save MacFarlanes on Solano in Albany. Pappy (in '48), speaking of Au Coquelet noted 'the crepe Suzette is merveilleux, its my "go to", glad I found this joint'.

Ok, I previously said Rick & Ann's but because of this thread I tried La Note

I switch my vote!

La Note is number one by a long shot.

Excellent food, served with care and style, great atmosphere, including garden seating, and friendly, great service

900 Grayson is delicious. Probably the best chicken and waffles I've ever had. Probably not walking distance though.

La Note is also really good but there can be quite a wait for that place.

Not worth the wait. I like the food but waited over an hour last time. You better get there by 8:30.

Yes, I heard about the long lines, especially weekends

Going very early is essential
