I guess Stanfurd and SC don't have to report.

Private institutions don't have the transparency mandate I suppose.

Under chippy at Oregon, they smoked it all, but at UCLA they ate it all. The Bruins did seem kinda big and slow last year.

That's over 50k per player. Or $150/day/player.

That must include game food sales expenses.

I checked it out. Wow. Now, I get it with the whole recent decades "foodie" culture and the eat for fitness gradations but I found it way over the top and then some.

Be fun to change the menu along more prosaic food lines:

Sample Dinner:
Sloppy Joes, tater tots, coleslaw, cooked carrots, soft ice cream.
Ever hopeful and it seems like forever.

That's not a dinner, that's an elementary school cafeteria lunch.

Scoff if you will, but the Cougs have the best cheese for those hot dogs.

Back in 2017
Chip: What needs to change for us to be successful?
Seniors: Food!
[Thinking] Chip: I'm going to like it here.

[Ron Howard Narrating]: He didn't.

And here's why "The $65-million Wasserman center, which opened in 2017, includes a state-of-the-art locker room and barbershop but no dining hall. The program must pay to have food delivered and arranged on buffet tables for three, sometimes four, meals a day." They're basically catering a wedding ever single day.

Yeah, delivery is expensive....

Who is this Wasserman guy? I why'd he cheap out on a dining hall?

(I know who Wasserman is. I'm just kidding.)

"Through a public records request, The Times obtained more than 500 pages of invoices and receipts that shed light on food costs. Among the menu selections: Guajillo chili chicken, coffee-braised brisket, and pork chops smothered in candied apples and onions. During off-season workouts last year, UCLA spent more than $40,000 to import five barbecue meals from an Arizona-based restaurant. On other occasions, the program ordered hundreds of peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches from a Los Angeles caterer at $4.95 each."

And Cougar Gold is better purchased at the factory because, well, you can eat really good ice cream while you wait. Really good ice cream.

If Chip was ordering Cougar Gold for his boys I'd say his food budget was worth it.

Public records search. Stanford and SC keep their info. behind a private curtain.

I am more concerned that it is more than 4x the next highest and more than 10x the lowest.

That is completely out of family.

Is it really being spent on food or are there shenanigans afoot?

Edit: Also want to note that Cal's total expenses are 2nd most behind only Washington.
