dfresh, what's your take on this situation?

Dear Parents,
It's with a very heavy heart that we write this email to you but as fellow parents we hope you will understand why at this point, some information and communication is necessary.
In the early morning hours of December 6, 2015 Elliott Pitts sexually assaulted our daughter, Mia. An investigation by the University of Arizona Title IX Office was conducted including evidence from interviews of 25 witnesses, City of Tucson and University of Arizona police reports, and a State of Arizona Assault Examination medical report. On January 29, 2016 the University released it's ruling and Elliott was found in violation of four counts of the student code of conduct:
"1) Endangering, threatening, or causing physical harm to any member of the university community or to oneself, causing reasonable apprehension of such harm or engaging in conduct or communications that a reasonable person would interpret as a serious expression of intent to harm.
2) Engaging (in) repeated or significant behavior toward another individual, whether in person, in writing, or through electronic means, after having been asked to stop, or doing so to such a degree that a reasonable person, subject to such contact, would regard the contact as unwanted.
3) Off-campus Conduct that a reasonable person would believe may present a risk or danger to the health, safety or security of the Board or University community or to the safety or security of the Board or university property.
4) Sexual misconduct.
Mr. Pitts has been suspended from the University of Arizona, and all other ABOR institutions, for the period of one academic year, and was also advised that the previously issued No Contact Order, prohibiting him from having any contact with you,
As parents of two student athletes, former letter winners, alumni and active members of leadership boards at the U of A, we had trusted the school to handle this issue with the respect and integrity we had always known the school to uphold. We as a family chose not to discuss details of this situation except with our immediate family because we did not want to taint the investigation in any way and because we knew the evidence would speak for itself. In addition, we wanted to protect our daughter's privacy. We commend the Title IX Office for the speed and discretion with which they handled their investigation. Our family found peace and justice in their decision to suspend and remove Elliott Pitts. Unfortunately in the aftermath of their investigation and ruling we have been shocked and disheartened by the way this issue has been handled by athletic director Greg Byrne and Sean Miller.
With incredible self-restraint, Trey made a conscious decision to not speak out in order to protect the investigation, to minimize the distraction to the team, and to avoid any further altercation with Elliott. The actions by Trey in the early morning hours of December 6th and throughout this entire ordeal would be what any parent would expect of their son and we are incredibly proud of the way he handled himself during an incredibly difficult and emotional situation. He has done nothing wrong. But because Elliott was allowed to stay with the team from December 6 through February 17 the players and members of the basketball staff became privy to only his version of events, which as proven by the investigation and ultimate ruling, is not accurate. This has since had a profoundly negative effect on both Mia and Trey and both have become vilified by members of the basketball team, the player's families and certain members of the coaching staff. This was only exacerbated by the fact that Coach Miller publicly supported Elliott in his statements to the players and to the press on multiple occasions.
Fortunately Mia received incredible support from her volleyball coaching staff and teammates. As a family we have no choice at this point but to publicly address what happened to our daughter because we feel Greg Byrne and Sean Miller have failed to protect not only her reputation but Trey's as well by choosing to not acknowledge the true reason for Elliott's departure and by making a conscious decision to publicly "support" Elliott. We feel strongly that the complete wrong message was sent to the young men on the basketball team and the leadership of the program missed a very important "learning moment". It's beyond upsetting that our family, through this trying time, showed a deep respect for the program only to have it completely and callously disrespect our children and our family.
Please know it was never our intention for things to get to this point, but we must now appeal to your common sense and your parental instincts. We can no longer sit idly by and not speak out about this.
You are invited to contact us personally and we would be willing to give you further details regarding the evidence in this case. The actions and inactions of Elliott Pitts, Greg Byrne and Sean Miller do not hold up to the character and integrity standards that Lute Olson proudly built this program on.
Thank you,
Harvey, Jeannine, Trey & Mia Mason

sean miller's failed leadership is a disgrace to the memory & legacy of the once respected basketball program built by bobbi jo & lute olson

it's one thing to be relentlessly competitive but it's another thing to be morally bankrupt like miller in the pursuit of winning a few more college basketball games

I've addressed my thoughts previously on this situation in this very thread...

The only two people that will know what really happened that night are Elliot Pitts and the accuser.

The Mason's obviously have felt there was a violation that occurred and some evidence supports that, however Pitts vehemently denies any wrong doing. I don't believe Pitts was ever formally charged and was suspended from basketball activity (at least games as he never played the rest of the season) from what I understand during the investigation. Truth be told, I don't have an answer for you in terms of how Miller should have handled the situation. On one hand, some sort of altercation obviously took place, with the sister of a team member, no less. On the other hand, no formal charges were brought about and situations and there have been similar situations to this one where the accused reported false allegations. I am in no way shape or form condoning his actions but it is a delicate line to balance especially when there were legal repercussions.

I guess that's why college coaches get paid the big bucks.

the arizona basketball program under the direction of the donut boy of tuscon is appealing to the ncca re: alonzo trier's usage/testing positive for performance enhancement drugs with the story that trier has asthma & that he & the entire university of arizona athletic medical staff didn't know that his meds that open his lungs are actually ncca banned drugs

yeah allonzo trier loves that breakfast of champions, it's got no moral fiber

a player's program (no need to read books & **** like that, no problemo if you rape a teammate's sister, no worries if you got a 2.5 gpa or don't attend a legit high school & we'll look the other way if you wanna load up on peds)#

alex lomax with unofficial visits to ole miss (tonite for the game vs kentucky) & memphis (offered) this week...always fun to visit schools that don't expect their basketball players to read books & **** like that

Shocky1;842711336 said:

coach martin has offered 5'11" 170 lbs 2018 point guard alex lomax from memphis east high school (tennessee) & team penny after blowing up this summer on the aau circuit, lomax will be a future top 100 player in the 2018 class & is being recruited by high majors (already 10 offers) from across the country

check out the video from his freshman year in high school...the tough d, the unselfish off the charts innate passing skills & the smooth running floater are in evidence

but basketball does not define lomax, alex is not a dumb azz, he got a 3.62 gpa...he is a member of the memphis east poetry club & has also volunteered for peer power, an after school tutoring/mentoring program in addition to serving as a youth coach

"alex lomax is the engine that makes east high run smoothly...he is an outstanding floor general that keeps all of his teammates at ease and makes sure all of them are in place...he makes the game seem so effortless with his poise during challenging times"
-antonion harris, head coach at rival b.t. washington high school

like coach martin, lomax is growing up in an economically depressed high crime housing project area (house broken into multiple times) & is seeking to provide a better future for himself & his family, the two of them have a common bond...will be intresting to see if his recruitment becomes a pure basketball decision or a 50 year decision

alex lomax would be an ideal member of cal's started at the bottom class (2018)

#18 ranked arizona (11-2) with losses at butler & gonzaga, it's really hard to win in college basketball on the road in hostile venues

the wildcats are led by 1 & done finnish 7' 230 lbs lauri markkanen (16.1 ppg with 43.5% on 3 pointers, must be closed out on the perimeter, along with a team high 7.5 rpg), 6'5" 220 lbs rawle alkins (12.4 ppg & 5.4 rpg), 6'5" 175 lbs kobi simmons (12.2 ppg), serbian 7' 245 lbs dusan ristic (8.8 rpg & 4.7 rpg) & 6'3" 205 lbs kadeem allen (8.8 ppg, 4.7 rpg & 2.8 apg)...last year's leading scorer allonzo tried is not cleared by the ncca because of peds, top recruit terrance ferguson (cleared by arizona admissions despite a 2.5 gpa) didn't attend a legit high school per the ncca & is playing in adelaide, ray smith is done with basketball forever & the team's leader in assists (5.3 apg) parker jackson cartwright (suspended during his senior year at loyola high school for academic cheating) really shouldn't play but the donut boy of tuscon might jeopardize his long term health by playing him for a couple of minutes tonite (if pjc goes down tonite for the rest of his career because of abuse to a non stabilizied body that won't be a problem for sean miller, he's running a player's program, guys are valued until they are disposable)

this is gonna be a defensive battle at the barricade, cal is #1 in the pac 12 in scoring defense (59.3%) & arizona is #2 (60.8%)...shots are gonna be defended, the team that stays together the best during the other team's runs & that makes their free throws during the last couple of minutes is gonna have the advantage

young ivee has gotta impose his will on the game & ******* demand the ball on offense (and his teammates need to deliver the rock) & then relentlessly attack the basket without hesitating...if the donut boy of tuscon doesn't jeopardize pjc's longterm health, then the wildcats are a 7 scholly roster & getting them in foul trouble is in the bears favor

both ivan & the king gotta defend but stay out of foul trouble & avoid the dumb azz reaching with the hands fouls

the wildcats are not a great shooting team, they struggled against gonzaga (#4 in the nation in field goal defense at 36.1%) & they will struggle tonite against cal (#6 in the nation in field goal defense at 36.6%)

our guys gotta play relaxed with smiles on their faces, homecourt haas is gonna be the difference at the barricade

let's do this

Regarding Trier, since there is literally no public information about the reason he is even suspended it's pure speculation. I have also heard somethrhinf similar to PEDs but if he appealed and won I'd say he more than has paid his debt considering he is a kid with NBA aspirations and has already missed half the season if not more.

Well,I have been there. Carried bottles of wine on the brain. Some broke as the train lurched away but most made it home

Trier is a southwestern German city in the Moselle wine region, near the Luxembourg border. Founded by the Romans, it contains several well-preserved Roman structures like the Porta Nigra gate, the ruins of Roman baths, an amphitheater just outside the center and a stone bridge over the Moselle River. The Archaeological Museum displays Roman artifacts. Among Trier's many Catholic churches is Trier Cathedral.

Trier ain't done nothin to **** me off but Spatlese might be too sweet

losing a basketball game is kinda like getting dumped, you are emotionally damaged goods & you think about what you could've done differently to change the outcome...yeah the foul trouble to the king (4 blocks & a ****load of altered shots) & young ivee (a courageous 16 boards along with 16 points on 7 of 13 field goals) changed the momentum/outcome of the game...grant made 2 key shots in the 2nd half, he's gotta look for his shot more, we need another offensive weapon...and the bird man played with a nba motor attacking the basket en route to 16 points on 5 of 11 field goals & 5 of 6 free throws along with 7 boards & physical d

coach martin & the staff gotta figure out more ways to run the offense thru ivan, when he touches the ball good things happen...and schematically how are the bears gonna protect the bigs (complaining about the pac 12 refs ticky tack calls is not a productive solution), is more zone the solution to keep the bigs on the floor?...kam is hopeful he will return on sunday vs asu, we could've used him tonite

torian graham scored a career high 30 points as the arizona state sundevils (8-6) poledanced 98-93 the stanford cardinals (8-5) in boring azz palo alto...bobby "off to the races" hurley's nomadic collection of d1 & junior college transfers knocked down a remarkable 13 of 24 3 pointers & also got to the line for 43 free throws (made 33)...guard/perimeter centric teams like asu are a better match up for cal than teams that attack in the paint & get our bigs in foul trouble...if you told me that hurley will physically attack a ref this sunday at haas pavilion, i would believe you, his non stop complaining about everything is worth the price of admission in itself

ucla bruins (14-1) kinda struggled 76-63 the oregon state beavers (4-11) who got 25 points from steven thompson jr...but the bruins +12 on assists is gonna win a lot of games

dillon brooks is healthy again & went off for 28 points as the corrupt oregon ducks basketball organization (13-2) avoided rico sanctions 84-61 against the defensively challenged usc trojans (14-1) who only got 4 points from chimezie metu on an abysmal 1 of 12 field goals...but none of this matters, let's be real here nobody gives a **** about usc basketball

charlie moore is a true freshman living thousands of miles away from chicago balancing being a starting point guard in the pac 12 with the academic rigors of berkeley...on the court charlie is averaging a team high 15.8 ppg with a highly productive 41.7% on 3 pointers...he's gonna continue to mature & become a better distributor/facilitator for his teammates, his 2 lob passes to the bird man last nite were on the money...right now moore is averaging 3.3 apg, that # is gonna go up as his awareness of scoring opportunities grows with experience

truth in advertising: i dunno maybe the asu slogan shouldn't be "fear the fork" but something more truthful like "fear the library & **** like that"...bobby "off to the races" hurley has assembled an athletic bunch of nomadic d1 & jc transfers 2.5 gpa dumb azzs, his recruiting niche is guys with troubled pasts & minimal academic ambition...bobby promised the sun angels donors when he was hired that he was gonna build the duke of the west but it's looking more like the tark's unlv teams from back in the day

asu is 8-6 on the season with impressive recent road victories at stanford (98-93) & san diego state (74-63)...i sat in the 1st row behind coach mcdermott with my creighton buddy slim wadie at wells fargo arena in tempe & coached him up during the bluejays 96-85 (game closer than the score) victory...asu plays fast & hard with usually 4 guards, they take a lot of chances defensively & don't rebound the ball very well, and most importantly bobby is gonna absolutely scream at the refs for 40 minutes, he's wired like me from an energy standpoint

the sun devils are led by the very talented volume shooter senior 6'5" 195 lbs torian graham (18.6 ppg), 6'1" 180 lbs tra holder (17.4 ppg & a team high 3.4 apg), 6'1" 160 lbs shannon evans ii (15.9 ppg), 6'8" 225 lbs obinna oleka (12.9 ppg with a crooked azz 25.6% on 3 pointers & 10.5 rpg, he's really not that good of a rebounder, he usually is the only sun devil competing for the ball off the glass), 6'5" 190 lbs kodi justice (7.1 ppg)...fully expect asu's only other big 6'10" 260 lbs jethro tshisumpa (1.1 ppg) who's been playing only 8.6 mpg to get a lot more minutes tonite vs cal's bigs

the #1 priority/game key for this pac 12 match up will be for the bears to fully exploit our significant interior post advantage & to feed the ******* basketball to ivan, the king & hopefully kam too if he's cleared by barry...asu got absolutely no answer for that, young ivee (who is finally physically healthy after mono this summer, a sprained foot from the st marys scrimmage & then a disabling hand injury that he fought thru) should go off for 30+ points, now is the time for young ivee to call out charlie & sammy when they dribble the ball to nowhere when's he's open, we are past the point of worrying about anybody's ******* feelings when they dribble the ******* basketball to nowhere

this is a great match up/opportunity for charlie to get more room to operate, for jabari to post up an overmatched & fundamentally weak opponent (playing with a nba bad jazz motor is gonna get jb buckets, 25+ points, standing in corner isn't gonna get him ****), for grant to let it fly without hesitation (i believe in the wolf of wall street, you & melissa know that) & for roger to chase/defend their shooters...creighton killed asu in transition...if cal's offensive rhythm is guys other than than the bird man, moore & mullins putting up 3 pointers, the bears are gonna lose, looking inside for high percentage finishes near the basket is the solution for a cal victory...if oleka gets in foul trouble trying to defend rabb, ivan's gonna get 40+

this game will be a test for cal defensively but let's be real here we're by far the best defense (#10 in the nation in field goal defense at 37.3%) that asu has played all season, the wide open perimeter shots that they've gotten against **** teams won't be available tonite at haas...it will also be critical for the king to stay in the paint & defend the rim as the sun devils offense is usually initiated by graham, holder or evans attacking the basket for either a point blank shot or kicking it out to a teammate for a 3 point look...the king's (or ivan in small ball) defensive responsibility obinna oleka is knocking down only 25.6% on 3 pointers, there's no reason to leave the paint to guard him on the perimeter, hunker down low & alter/block shots, ok?...hurley is gonna try to schematically pull out the cal bigs but we gotta be smarter than that...the odds of oleka beating us with 3 point moneyballs is pretty ******* slim

yeah, i got all the answers & i'm gonna be loud in ensuring my gameplan (feed ivan on offense & the king stays in the paint on defense) is fully executed, if bobby thinks he's gonna outyell/outcoach me tonite at 7:00 pm he's in for a really big ******* surprise

this is shocky's team (the time is now for everything)#

left to right, grant "the wolf of wall street" mullins, jabari "nba motor" bird, charlie "still growing up" moore, ivan "100% healthy" rabb, sir kingsley okoroh & sammy "joe's stone crabs are poisonous" singer

so it's an hour before tip off & i'm dropping off my extra floor pass for my guest 71b at the recruits will call, there's a problem at the players will call, grant mullins forgot to put his pretty columbia (played volleyball) girlfriend & her parents on the list for free tickets...so i tell them i'll take care of it, i jog over to the basketball offices but nobody's there...finally matt from the athletic department graciously takes care of the problem & gets them in the door...during the 45+ minutes early warm ups i ask grant what's wrong with him, how could be forget his good looking gf & his future potential in laws?...grant tells me thank you with his patented smirk smile & i say no worries, the wolf is gonna go off tonite, he's gonna shoot the rock without fear, he's like black soap in nyc

and that's exactly what happened, the wolf arbitraged the 2.5 gpa dumb azz sun devils with 20 points on 7 of 10 field goals & an en fuego 5 of 8 3 pointers along with exceptional ball control (only 1 turnover) in 35 minutes...when cal's ivy league catch & shoot venture capitalist shoots it in rhythm, the bears are minted in the markets...let's build on this, grant, let's do this

on a nite when jabari bird's 3 point shot wasn't dropping (2 of 9 3 pointers) the bird man did not sit in a ******* corner & sulk/become invisible...the senior/nba prospect fearlessly attacked the basket & finished with 16 points on 7 of 15 field goals along with a physical presence on d...jabari, gotta clean up the 4 turnovers for the la trip, ok?

kingsley okoroh altered half a dozen shots & blocked 3 more, the bears are one of the best defensive teams in the nation when the king is on the floor & not in foul trouble, his zero fouls tonite is a remarkable achievement (kinda like claiming a curvy brunette yoga female as a girlfriend)...king, please don't take any worthless advice from grant re: how to treat your gf, ok?...mullins don't know **** about relationships

sam singer did all the little things that help teams win basketball games...sam is unselfish, he's all about the team & i 100% respect that...he's currently working with a local shooting coach/consultant & his stroke looked good tonite, more natural & less upright/mechanical...singer scored 10 points on an efficient 4 of 8 field goals along with 6 boards...when sammy is smiling & hand clapping with attitude, the bears are victorious

charlie moore cut back on his dribbling & got 6 important assists, his upside is unlimited...trust me, charlie wants this real bad

and yeah my man young ivee played like a ******* all american with 20 points on 7 of 10 field goals including a nba stretch forward 2 of 2 3 pointers along with an alpha male 15 boards & an unselfish point forward 5 assists...there's a reason ivan is gonna be a lottery pick in the 2017 nba draft, now that he's healthy it's only gonna keep getting better & better...there's no candy azz soft male strippers like ultrahateme (an ugly bitch who thinks every cal basketball & football coach along with entire athletic department is incompetent but is so unsuccessful that he can't afford to actually ever go to a game in berkeley) at montera middle school

a tip of the cap to asu's obinna oleka for knocking down 3 of 7 3 pointers but make no mistake about it his james harden wannabe look is both unoriginal & never gonna work with the perfect 10s in tempe

fun ending to the evening when i yelled across the floor during the final minute to my pal bobby "off to the races" hurley & let him know that "it's over, bobby, it's over"

left to right, grant "the wolf of wall street" mullins, jabari "nba motor" bird, charlie "still growing up" moore, ivan "100% healthy" rabb, sir kingsley okoroh & sammy "joe's stone crabs are poisonous" singer

so it's an hour before tip off & i'm dropping off my extra floor pass for my guest 71b at the recruits will call, there's a problem at the players will call, grant mullins forgot to put his pretty columbia (played volleyball) girlfriend & her parents on the list for free tickets...so i tell them i'll take care of it, i jog over to the basketball offices but nobody's there...finally matt from the athletic department graciously takes care of the problem & gets them in the door...during the 45+ minutes early warm ups i ask grant what's wrong with him, how could be forget his good looking gf & his future potential in laws?...grant tells me thank you with his patented smirk smile & i say no worries, the wolf is gonna go off tonite, he's gonna shoot the rock without fear, he's like black soap in nyc

and that's exactly what happened, the wolf arbitrated the 2.5 gpa dumb azz sun devils with 20 points on 7 of 10 field goals & an en fuego 5 of 8 3 pointers along with exceptional ball control (only 1 turnover) in 35 minutes...when cal's ivy league catch & shoot venture capitalist shoots it in rhythm, the bears are minted in the markets...let's build on this, grant, let's do this

on a nite when jabari bird's 3 point shot wasn't dropping (2 of 9 3 pointers) the bird man did not sit in a ******* corner & sulk/become invisible...the senior/nba prospect fearlessly attacked the basket & finished with 16 points on 7 of 15 field goals along with a physical presence on d...jabari, gotta clean up the 4 turnovers for the la trip, ok?

kingsley okoroh altered half a dozen shots & blocked 3 more, the bears are one of the best defensive teams in the nation when the king is on the floor & not in foul trouble, his zero fouls tonite is a remarkable achievement (kinda like claiming a curvy brunette yoga female as a girlfriend)...king, please don't take any worthless advice from grant re: how to treat your gf, ok?...mullins don't know **** about relationships

Shocky - always enjoy your updates - good to see you tonight and spot on analysis, especially with Sam's play. Sam is the glue and when he is confident, smiling and the coach gives him the leadership role, the team plays smart and efficient. Hopefully he will continue to be assertive. CM is the future and supremely talented, but Sam is the best play maker on the team. Lot of fun tonight and a big step for the team. ASU style of play and limited size allowed us to create shooting advantages for us - interior penetration, Ivan being effective at multiple spots on the court and our perimeter shooting was very good.
