FWIW, SFCity, Charlie made 3 lay-ups yesterday, and both of the 2nd half ones were with the LEFT hand. More importantly, they looked natural and smooth.

I see the layup thing with Charlie most being about getting stuffed. He needs to be willing to dish if he draws defenders and he needs to use the rim (which he did in his last layup yesterday - I don't remember the earlier ones specifically).... its all part of his growth and realizing when he can/can't do certain things that were easily done in high school. The kid is a goddam player though.... great get by the staff.

Maybe Charlie Moore read my posts and decided to flash his left hand yesterday (Just kidding!)

Let me first say that no one is more happy to be proven wrong on something than I am about the statements I made regarding Charlie Moore needing to learn how to use his left hand on layups from the left side.

For the record, one of those left-handed layups was on a beautiful drive from the left side, and the other was not exactly a layup per se, but a drive more from the right crossing past the basket and finishing with a left handed hook shot, also a terrific play.

I thank you for reading my posts as always, keeping a lookout for Charlie's layups, and correcting me.

The only thing I care about here is not who is right, only about whether Cal basketball is successful, and the way to success in basketball is sound fundamentals and playing smart, IMHO.

SFCity:

I was not in any way trying to prove you wrong. I admit that when you originally brought it up, I hadn't noticed his handedness one way or the other; that's why I was watching carefully. I only posted in case you hadn't been able to see it or wanted to discuss it further. I didn't see it as correcting you at all. As I'm sure you know, I value your perspective even when I see things differently.

I didn't notice if charlie had a left or not, but for an undersized guard who aggressively drives on the basket, and finishes with an array of moves, it would be surprising if he didn't have a left. for him to earn mr basketball in a basketball crazy state he probably needs to have an advanced left (able to put english on the ball, double pump, etc)
