Texass basically heaves NBA threes or tosses alley oops. We can definitely grind them down.
I predicted CAL 59 Texas 57. It appears I may have slightly overrated the offense capabilities of both teams.UrsaMajor said:Other big takeaway: nobody can shoot.tequila4kapp said:When there is a massive discrepancy in athletic skill the more athletic team gets the calls because their physicality puts pressure on the other team.calgldnbear said:
Amazing how well Cal can stay in a game when we aren't getting called for a foul every possession
The big take away after watching 3 minutes of the 1st half is that Texas isn't Duke; Duke has special athletic talent.
Works for me.NYCGOBEARS said:bearup said:That's two, but you probably weren't talkin' to me.NYCGOBEARS said:

Lol. No, I wasn't but... screw Texass!!!
Not sure I agree. Cal isn't setting up their shooters that is true. Hopefully that will be the 2nd half adjustment.UrsaMajor said:Other big takeaway: nobody can shoot.tequila4kapp said:When there is a massive discrepancy in athletic skill the more athletic team gets the calls because their physicality puts pressure on the other team.calgldnbear said:

God the ball sticks when Austin gets tentative and he gets tentative with length defending him. It is just night and day vs. how the ball moved in games 1 through 3.
Honestly it is time to say "You know, our PG of the future is Brown. Here are all the minutes" Paris can come in to give him an occasional blow. Sucks but is what it is.

welp, the 7 - 0 or 9 -0 run after the half does support that albeit on a limited basis.UrsaMajor said:+1socaltownie said:

Paris is what he is. Doubt all of Fox's coaching is going to make a difference at this point.
Yeah. We saw it last year. It sorta stinks for him - but he is too short to finish at the rim and doesn't have an outside shot. So teams just sag off him or wait for rim help since he can drive. Without a great slasher to complement it ends up that he doesn't have a finisher to dish to. So drive, swat, rinse, repeat.UrsaMajor said:+1socaltownie said:

Ball is sticking and we don't set great off ball screens. Plus Matt will, if you watch, occasionally loaf it out there and not run around Steph style. He needs to understand that his opportunity at the next level is going to depend on people seeing he is willing to run 10 miles duirng a game to get open.UrsineMaximus said:welp, the 7 - 0 or 9 -0 run after the half does support that albeit on a limited basis.UrsaMajor said:+1socaltownie said:

Not sure why Cal isn't setting up their shooters or why Bradley isn't driving to create points or fouls.

You may be correct. It just feels to me that the team is a bit "worried" about the coach. I'm happy to be wrong but there is no flow. For a team that requires athleticism lack of flow, by design, IMO hurts a team. Happy to be wrong.socaltownie said:Ball is sticking and we don't set great off ball screens. We should have the basketball and football team's offenses go out for drinks together and wallow in their woes.
It is going to be a long season. The team is constructed such that Paris, South and Bradley had to be the scorers. Paris isn't good enough. South may be good enough but this weekend is not making it look good for him against better competition. Bradley can't do it all. In other words, we are undermanned. There aren't a lot of coaching adjustments to make at halftime to fix that.m2bear said:

No adjustments at halftime.
