$30 gets you sideline seats comparable to the student section in terms of location relative to court (but SC's sideline seats continue to go upwards, not broken up by a wall so more people are closer to the court)

Old, small gym that is like a smaller Stanford arena. Old small center court score board with just the basic scores, etc. Large (pretty clear) video board on one wall behind one basket. Together, not the best video setup.

Students in one section behind one basket. Because it goes right to floor and stretches the entire baseline it's better than what we have (our prior baseline seats were better before they broke it up with the doors, make a third premium seats, and took out some rows to fit the second row of floor seats. All of these changes were negative to the students and game day experience, and did not raise increase ticket sales.

Their straw hat band was under 10. They had a full complement of cheerleaders. Their national anthem was with 3 flag bearers and live (kids) singers /music. Concessions were high school like (the only bad I thing I'd say). DJ playing mostly rap/R&B music.

I've been to SC soccer games before. Nice private university with a solid sports program with a small town feel regarding fan support and game atmosphere

Ditto. And, $2 beer Saturday, and if I had known how the game would be turning out, I should have had several.

couple more things - their band does include a drum set (personal preference, but I hate that). No stats or anything that I could see - admittedly I didn't look over my shoulder at the wall-mounted TV display much - but there was nothing - I mean, nothing - on the mid-size center-court hung scoreboard. No replays, no stats, just time and score. You couldn't even tell who the foul was called on. Parking in a covered lot is right close by, less than 100 yds, for $10. Hot dogs are better than what Cal serves.

Sat two rows back behind the Cal bench - $35. Fox looked frustrated most of the game. And to respond to some thoughts on this board - the team looks 'disengaged'. I don't think that's a good sign. Obviously everyone is frustrated by losing.

They had coke and the hot dogs were good, with a table of sliced tomatoes, pickles and onions. Plus they had straws. The fans were nice and the band played some nice jazz. Cheerleaders were entertaining. Unlike Usf, the canned rap music was tasteful and not too loud . Parking was in a closed garage. The ride home was probably the worst rain I have ever seen in my life.

The scoreboard was puzzling . No player stats. Looked like it was set up for Tennis. All in all, lousy experience since we lost and were not even competitive. I saw olden Bear there and a few others . Not many students. Was told the

No metal detectors. None were at Usf. No ushers asking everywhere you go. Friendly atmosphere.

center court seats we bought for $35 were seats turned in by season ticket holders and re sold. What a concept !

Santa Clara is also the alma mater of Kevin Foster. Foster made 431 three-point field goals in his career, which is tied for the fourth-most all-time in NCAA Division I history. He finished his collegiate career as Santa Clara's all-time leading scorer with 2,423 points, which is also the most in San Francisco Bay Area Division I history and second most in West Coast Conference history. Also the alma mater of former Cal player (And Canadian) Brendan Graves who was a Campanelli recruit and left during all the flux around the program in the early 90s. I got to know him initially on his recruiting visit and thought he was an awesome guy. He ended up carving out a nice niche at Santa Clara, played in 2 NCAA tournaments for them and was the conference scholar-athlete of the year. Not sure what happened to him after that, but I always found him to be an impressive guy.

Going back to the SCU powerhouse days when they were ranked #1 in the country for a period of time, they had the Ogden brothers and Dennis Awtry. They were damn good in that era.

Cal used to do this. Not sure why it stopped.

Cal would want $70 and no one would buy them.
