Do we need them or is this paranoia? Supposedly Campus police asked for them. None at Usf or Santa Clara. Plus their ticket scanners seemed to work better than ours.
Also they had students taking tickets
Would prefer this at Cal. Not sure students would want to do it

An ounce of prevention is a wise move.

Don't start feeling too safe: One game last season, I walked right through with a Swiss Army Knife in my pocket, by mistake. Had I been of evil intent, I could have performed 14 different dastardly acts with that one "weapon"!

They need to have some kind of covering when it rains.

You can't seriously be in support of this security theater nonsense. It is an insulting waste of everyone's time. No terrorist would get caught by such unsophisticated methods, anyway.

The lack of crowd size would be a headline killer. I'd say we're good.

There were more people at usf and santa clara. We are probably considered a more high profile risk.

I wonder how much they cost to buy and now run? Anyway once we had them they will use them regardless of the event. They used them during volleyball season even when we had fewer than 300 people including the teams and staff in Haas. Obviously the sports world has decided that they needs them. I walked through them at both major league and minor league baseball this year.

Would rather have this security than not. Though curiously the clasps on our lanyards set them off--but not consistently. I agree with those who feel a terrorist will find a way, regardless of security measures. But percentages fall when there are extended measures.

A lone shooter opened fire at Haas Arena tonight during the NIT matchup between the Cal men's basketball team and Iona. The shooter was identified as Guy Falotico. Several empty seats were criticallly wounded and rushed to nearby Alta Bates hospital for treatment. The 1,453 patrons that attended were unharmed and indeed, many failed to even notice that the shooting was going on.

As he was being removed from the arena by police, the shooter was heard to be repeating in a maniacal voice "Sensley was supposed to be ours!"

LOL. Not a bad 5th post. But I get the feeling you've been around...we don't get too many Sensley references in these parts.

Who are you, Joker? Are you Vandalus?!

I think it's overkill especially for volleyball with just a few hundred people. And then it's a mess when it rains, not worth ruining your phone to go watch a bad hoops team. I'm

In the end, if they can't set up metal detectors without some method to avoid putting our stuff in a tupperware bin full of water, they shouldn't do it.

Leave your phone in your car in the trunk. Thats what I do. I go to watch the game not the phone.

Electronics in the trunknot a good idea, anywhere. Easy to detect by sophisticated thieves. It takes a couple of seconds to put it in the tray, pass through security and pick it up. Saturday they were moving everyone through very quickly to let us shelter under the roof at Haas entrance. This is the new reality. My mom would have said "stop whining".

Yes OD. That's why there is so much frustration in the quick hit car thievery. Leaving phones, laptops, pads in the trunk isn't deterring the more sophisticated gangs.

Ok. Wont do that.
