Cal fans are unable to grapple with the the other variables (e.g. talent) associated with W-L and competitiveness because they went all-in on Wyking being the problem, a silly proposition on its face (and I'm no Wyking fan). They can't say the roster is the problem because that would imply the roster was the problem under Wyking.
The culprit of the roster the past 2+ years was Cuonzo, a guy who built absolutely nothing, a guy who (smartly, I guess) jumped ship when it was clear to him that the fruits of his labor was going to result in multiple years of poor basketball and mountains of losses. He knew the program was set up for years of failure so he left before short-sighted observers could blame him (he didn't fool me).
A guy who took Cal to its highest tourney seed (albeit was very overrated in a bad conference, but 3 seed nonetheless) and couldn't turn that into a program and culture builder, an improved access to recruits around the country.
Nobody is more responsible for the recent and current state of affairs than Cuonzo. F*** that guy.
