OK, I have a dumb question. Is it possible to buy single-game courtside seats for MBB? After poking around on the internet it doesn't seem possible but if I'm wrong please correct me.

If you are the owner of a pair of courtside seats and would be willing to sell them to me for one home game, please PM me. The actual opponent is irrelevant. My wife (also an alum) and I have never sat courtside for anything so just want the experience one time. So pick a game or games that you don't want to or can't go to.

I will ask this question again when the 2020-21 schedule comes out. I suspect I'll have more luck in getting someone to part with their seats for a non conference game but I thought I'd give it a try now anyway.

Yeah, thanks, I did mean on the floor. I kinda figured those seats are all owned by season ticket holders based on the zero availability through regular channels but I figured I'd ask anyway.

I am willing to pay something for the experience, not looking for a freebie. I'll ask again at the start of next season if I don't get any responses.

I scored floor seats cheap from a scalper once for a garbage pre-xmas game. My kids sat in the seats and I sat in the bleachers right behind them.

The man next to them asked what I paid for them, they were his seats that he sold to the scalper, lol.

I now live in Nevada and have Wolfpack season tickets. The previous 4 years I had Cal season passes and chair side seats. Usually the chair side seats were empty. I contributed $30,000 per year to Cal basketball. First 2 years were good. The last 2??

We like our north end zone 2nd row seats. Section 9. First row seats in front of us have been purchased on StubHub most of preseason. This is a very good view of basketball, giving you a sense of speed,and athleticism. Cal has north basket second half. Much preferred to court side IMO!

This is a missed opportunity on the part of the athletic department, needless to say.

1) The courtside seats for the donors should be removed and the student seating should be returned so that the students are sitting on the court, as they did in Harmon. Given that this will never happen because it would be too awesome, it makes too much sense, and could potentially re-invigorate the student body...

2) Every Cal fan should have the opportunity to sit in these front row seats on the court. To achieve that goal, at least 4-8 of these seats should be withheld from donors each year and made available to the general public. There should be an auction whereby any Cal fan could purchase the seats, assuming they're willing to pay the market rate determined by the auction. Any excess profit would go to the athletic department or could be donated by the athletic department to a charity of the choosing of a Cal coach or player. This would be a win/win for all, and who knows, maybe a Cal fan enjoys it enough that they decide to become a donor.

3) Retired jerseys and championship banners: I went to see Bowser play at a tournament two nights ago at Torrey Pines High School in San Diego. Torrey Pines High School has more than 100 championship banners hanging from the gym rafters, and it gives the gym a lot of character and a "Hoosiers" feel. Heaven forbid the Cal athletic department do the commonsense thing and return the retired jerseys and championship banners back to the rafters at Haas where they belong.

4) By the way, Bowser looked pretty good. That said, he is solidly a 3-star player, maybe borderline 4-star player, nothing more. Don't expect too much from him and you might be pleasantly surprised. The high 4-star and 5-star players really stand out at these tournaments, due to their physicality and athleticism. Bowser is not one of those. Fox needs to start winning recruiting battles for a few of those types...

Agree 100% with your points 1-3 (and you may be right about the fourth, I just have no idea, myself). As you alluded to, however, these are the sorts of ideas that our non-Cal, marketing-or-bean-counting Athletic department "experts" will probably never implement.

Regarding Bowser, there are some reports that he is still growing into his body, so I am optimistic.

My impression is that they are never "for sale" to the general public. Some are already bought by major donors, while others are held, game by game, for "VIP"s.

I thought it was good when there was one row court side. I didn't like it when they added second row because they took out student benches behind them

But the worst change was replacing a third of the baseline student benches with seatbacks, carving out two doors which further reduced the student seats, and created the useless lounge which is sterile and useless and replaced the fan store

All these moves were bad for students and hurt the game day experience, and did not increase revenues in any significant way

I agree (but I think you mean sideline seating). But it's worse than you think. Thinking they were oh so clever... to not have to accomodate them elsewhere (why is simply beyond me), they turned the rest of the student section into ADA compliant seating. Note, this is not because every section of the facility has to be that way, but because X% does. What does this mean? It means they remove every other row of the remaining student section. Which means they took out half the seats. So not only did they remove 1/3 of the section, what's left has only 1/2 as many seats. So in actuality they took the capacity of the sideline student section down to ONLY ONE THIRD of what it was before.

And of course moving the band and students on the baseline because the courtside "fans" sitting there complained about the band.

I agree. Best seats are right behind the basket up close. For one thing you can see the physicality in the paint and also clearly see the fouls.

Only small downside is the hoop post blocks part of the view
