Don't hold your breath. Change is not in their vocabulary . I am still waiting to see the 2010 Pac 12 Basketball Championship Trophy. Did we lose it???

This new amenity will be available to the first 5 rows of chair backs to slake that sideline thirst.

Longer allowed at Cal. We bring our own from Top Dog . No problem at usf or santa clara. Also no metal detectors. Can Cal make it any more difficult?

Paper straws suck! Drink fast or they'll totally deteriorate on you.

Raw sugar that doesn't dissolve in cold beverages sucks even more.

I always wonder why it so hard to get white sugar for iced tea.

Have you used a paper straw lately. The new ones are not like that. They are plenty durable

Yes, I've frequently used them recently, because I didn't have a choice (other than no straw). And they totally suck! After a short while, they get saturated, collapse, and then totally deteriorate.

Sorry. That is total bullshyte. You just don't want to be deprived of a talking point against liberals. I've had a paper straw in water for three days without deteriorating.

By the way, you can have a plastic straw if you want. Just bring your own.

Who said anything about liberals? You have a very weird complex. My complaint is about paper straws. I've been around long enough to remember a time before plastic straws even existed. We lived with paper straws then, and we're living with them now. They sucked in the 50's and they suck now. Good for you if you've fallen in love with them, but plastic is much more functional and just plain better. No sane person would even attempt to deny that. The only total bullshyte is your statement that you've had a paper straw in water for 3 days without deterioration. Do you really expect anyone to believe that crap?

I've used the paper straws in the seventies and I agree they were terrible. The paper straws of today are nothing like those which is why I don't believe you have used them but instead are comparing plastic straws to paper straws of the fifties. That is just a false comparison. The paper straws today don't get soggy or have bits of paper coming off in your mouth. They are firm and coated to prevent that. There is really nothing better about the plastic unless you want to enjoy your drink 20 years later which is exactly the problem.

This is really like every other thing, like styrofoam that we get rid of because it has no material benefit and they are terrible for the environment. There is *****ing about it because it is what people are used to and after a while it subsides because there was never anything wrong with the biodegradable option.

Just to bring this back to basketball . . . Do most people realize that the modern straw (of any material), was actually pushed in the beginning of the 20th century by Dr Pepper and Coca Cola to increase consumption and improve their profits. They actually did studies that demonstrated that people consume two or three times as much soda, without realizing it. Using a straw simply bypasses most of the tongue and mouth that brings the pleasure.

If you really want to stick it to the man - just stop using straws altogether. Your beverage will last two or three times longer.

Great idea. Never thought of that. I did notice I did not finish my supposedly small drink last time in Haas.
