We'll always have Parisstu said:
I'd give Paris Austin game MVP because his drives to the basket got us going. I like a pass-first PG but sometimes the guy with the ball has to blow by a defender to open things up for everyone else. Brown followed with his own drives and the Cougs couldn't handle it.
The nationality shouldn't matter - plenty of good foreign players. Lars will take some time.IssyBear said:He started playing American BB 4 months ago.socaltownie said:
idiot Bears fans "Lars will be good". Well good for 2 quick DUMB fouls by a kid who looks like he started playing BB 2 years ago.
Probably won the game because Dyson wasn't out there doing his usual bricklayingHoopDreams said:
This is a game we really could have used Dyson
Couldn't watch the whole game, but WSU played the worst basketball I've seen all year and I've been watching Cal. That wasn't a talent deficiency. That was a talent + coaching deficiency. It was almost to the point at times where you feel like turning it off because you are so embarrassed for them.Big C said:
I couldn't get to the Haas tonight, but watched the last 2/3 of the game on TV. Nice win. Should help morale, which had to be sagging. Wow, Bradley with the jam on that fast break and then the dagger three!
WSU didn't look to impressive (understatement). Bad day to be a Cougar (Leach leaves for Miss. St. too).
Hey, the last two gifs on this thread... I can't stop staring at them. They are hypnotizing.
Well Smith made the move of the night when be sprinted down the sideline with hands waving after the refs changed a foul from shooting to non-shooting. I don't think Fox's body language is even in that league.ducky23 said:
Well at least we hired Fox instead of Kyle smith (who was, by far, my least favorite candidate)
I thought Smith was a terrible hire and last night confirmed that. You can have no talent and still play organized basketball. WSU was not ever going to be good this year but the question is are they the reasonable best they can be? If last night is an indication, that answer is a resounding no.ducky23 said:

Cal is a lot better when they stop the pointless passing the ball around the perimeter and actually just try to win one on one matchups (because that is what modern day basketball is essentially).
But I'm not sure our success at winning the point of attack battle was actually fox changing philosophies or just WSU having a terrible defense.
I have made my feelings about the Fox hire crystal clear, but last night Cal looked like Pete Newell was coaching them compared to what was going on from the other side.stu said:Well Smith made the move of the night when be sprinted down the sideline with hands waving after the refs changed a foul from shooting to non-shooting. This works (and did work) when WSU was playing man. WSU was very poor at helping out with our driving guards and defending the basket, so lots of our guys were getting layups or at least getting fouled. That's how we got back in the game in the first half. Then WSU went to zone, and the one-on-one matchups were much harder to find. You beat a zone by passing, not dribbling - but that passing (or any passing) can't be "pointless".ducky23 said:

No, actually if you read my other post on this game I agreed with Vegas that it would likely be a close win. Prefaced with an observation that the team seems in a fragile state and really needs to win a game like this to avoid the wheels coming off completely.SBGold said:
