Our good friends down in the peninsula are 15-2 and 4-0 in PAC-12, only losses to Butler (current #5) and Kansas (current #6). And this is hilarious but they just won in Pauley for the first time since 2005.

Yeah we are feeling great about having the Axe back but the way things are going, this time of year is going to start looking really lousy again.

Hasse has been coaching at furd since 2016. Fox has been at Cal less than a year. No reason for angst. Our team is much better than last year's group.

Hasse is only 9 games over .500 for three years to date. No doubt at all that Fox will have a much better overall record than that three years from now.

You mean we're not good at basketball and Stanford is?

This is new information to me.

I think it is 12 games over .500 in 3+ years to date. "No doubt much better"? Not that Haase is that great but I sure hope you are right.

Furd has decent bigs and a good young point guard. That said, let's see where they are after playing teams like SC, Arizona, etc. They played only two good teams out of conference and looked good against Butler, and bad against Kansas, in two losses. Furd is probably a decent (and good in the crappy Pac conference) team, but not really that good.

LSJU has done nothing to indicate they are anything special, not in non-conference, and not in conference. In conference, they beat Cal at home. If they can't do that, they are really crappy. They swept the Washington schools at home. Um, yeah, so did Cal, and both had the advantage of playing UW right after they lost their point guard for the year. And after having 2 of their first 3 wins against 2 of the bottom 3 teams in the conference, they won a road game against the third of the bottom 3 teams in the conference.

A middle of the Pac team should be 4-0 against that competition right now. If LSJU wins on Saturday, it might be time to say, "Oh, crap, LSJU might finish toward the top of a crappy conference. As opposed to toward the bottom of a crappy conference like Cal."

This ain't Monty's LSJU team. They appear mediocre at best. The problem isn't how good LSJU is, the problem is how crappy Cal is. If Cal could rise to being mediocre, we'd be pretty evenly matched with LSJU. If we can rise to being good, we'll beat them most of the time. Those are BIG ifs. But I don't think we need to worry about LSJU, we only need to worry about Cal.

I agree. However, Davis is not young anymore, he is a junior, and his scoring and assists are down from his first two years. He is a load, I'd agree. Losing Okpala seems to have helped Stanford, not hurt them, so far. They look better as a team, and have been taking care of business. There still is a question of whether Haase can coach well enough and recruit well enough to make or keep Stanford competitive. Many are saying that the PAC12 is improved overall, but I'm not so sure yet.

you are dreaming, perhaps we go 8 under for this year, next year a stretch to be .500 .. that means that in the third year by this time we will have to be damn near undefeated .. not going to happen, I don't see us with a winning conference record by then ..
