Why would you say that Kuany is not a good shooter? Based on...????
He hasn't played much but when he has it seems he can knock down a corner 3 with confidence.
Kuany, I feel, will become (not this year) a major piece for Cal in the near future.
I join you in what is probably a minority opinion. Yes, I have seen him make that shot a couple of times so it was more than "even a broken watch tells the right time twice a day" type of thing. He is also not afraid to put the ball on the court. My guess is that he hits that corner shot in practice and that Fox green lit that. If he is coached up and can get sufficient "learning minutes" next season, he could make a dent or two his last two years. IMHO he ain't no stiff (I feel the same about Lars).
as someone pointed out, he is 2-7 for the year, but i didn't know that when I posted
my opinion is based on two things:
1. his pre-game shooting - I usually go to watch pre-per-game warm ups and watch the players shoot. Before the OSU game he was shooting from the wing and missing most of his shots, some badly. But he made his one attempt in the game, which is why I posted that he saw my comment. I also posted that he shot better during the halftime warmups. In past games, I didn't focus on him as much, but remember thinking he wasn't a good shooter
2. his shooting form (although admittedly not ever good shooter has a classic form)
Some players actually shoot better in a game with a defender guarding them than wide open practice shots that can be repeated (and therefore adjusted). Probably just more focused. This might also explain why he shot much better during halftime than pre-game.
Of course it could just be random. Often times people are inconsistent or need to find their range, so I read too much into his pre-game warmups.
In contrast Kelly shoots pretty well from 3, which is why I think our offense should use him a little more in that capacity, especially from mid-range. He probably shoots one 3 about every 3 or so
