Three chances to bring the ball in bounds, and we couldn't do it.

Thorpe is getting some minutes this game. He is really green and make silly mistakes, but I like giving him real experience in a meaningful game.

I liked Thorpe playing until I saw his FT %. You just can't play a guy that can't hit 40% of his FTs.

I enjoyed watching Paris dominate 5 star, projected first round Nico Mannon
Paris broke his ankles once, putting him on the deck, and did it again, putting him on skates, and basically threw him off balance over and over. not sure why Paris stopped attacking him at some point. At first I thought it was because AZ adjusted, but at least once Paris had basically an iso and chose to pass
but it was brilliant to see Paris outplay Nico

If I'm an opposing coach, I let Paris roam free all day. He had more TO's than made shots last night. He rarely finishes in the paint. Give him the matador defense and wave him by so he chucks up a shot off balance against a big. Just don't foul him and put him on the line.Ted Bear said:2-10 from the field with 2 assists. Also, can someone teach Lars a pump fake or move when he is 2 feet from the basket? It appears that going straight up usually winds up with one of the students on The Bench.

The challenge for Paris and Bradley is that Mannon has a rim protector behind him so if we get past the initial defender there is someone to clean up, hence the poor shooting percentage from Paris (and Bradley).
I'm afraid that tiny crowd is in part due to the work Knowlton had done and in turn is the cause of him having his work cut out for him.ncbears said:

There's a blast from the past. For you younger Bears, Hart was a 6-8, 230 PF from Germany in the (?) late 80s. He was "wooden", sort of in the style of a DJ Thorpe. IIRC, he started having a much-improved senior season, before getting injured.ncbears said:The return of the immortal Hartmut Ortmann!Big C said:LMK5 said:Lars = Herman MunsterKoreAmBear said:Yah that is a good scout, unfortunately.Big Dog said:If I'm an opposing coach, I let Paris roam free all day. Yes. Kelly has worked hard to improve on both ends of the court and I think he should be rewarded with a few more shots per game (especially since so few other players can score). He's got a sweet stroke. I'd set him up with mid-range jumpers and even green-light him when he's open beyond the arc. (Not the greatest shots in the world to get, but, with this team, there aren't too many great shots to get, so why not?)HoopDreams said:
Besides Bradley (19 pts, 8 rebs), Kelly has a great game with 4-6 shooting and game high 9 rebounds. He has always had great low post footwork, and he's now figuring out how to score against Pac12 bigs
The issue is we aren't getting him the ball enough (and I would like to see him improve the timing of his kick outs)

Arizona fell off the top 25 this week, so the lack of an "upset alert" appeal cost the game about 300 fans.ncbears said:

Kelly and Anticevich are our only two even moderately productive front court guys right now. Hoping for dramatic off-season improvement for the current freshmen.
Do you and Hart keep in touch? What's he up to these days?TheFiatLux said:Big C said:There's a blast from the past. For you younger Bears, Hart was a 6-8, 230 PF from Germany in the (?) late 80s. He was also my apartmentmate.
My problem with Lars is that he just goes up too slow and soft when he is 2 feet from the basket. They should show him film of the Thermanator. A little anger would help a lot.SFCityBear said:Mega dittos. +1000KoreAmBear said:Yah that is a good scout, unfortunately.Big Dog said:If I'm an opposing coach, I let Paris roam free all day.
