See Dennis Gates in other thread. Doing well to upgrade the performance in a rebuild job like Fox.

Travis Decuire -- has found a nice niche for himself in Bozeman, 18-11 first place in the Big Sky (14-4 in conference):

Eric Musselman is an identical 18-11 in the SEC (6-10 in conference), waiting for Vanover to get eligible.

Kyle Smith has done an OK job, but not as good as Fox.

Jason Kidd -- well you know he's an assistant with the first place Lakers

Who else were we considering?

Out of that group, nobody is knocking it out of the park or doing exceptionally badly. (Kidd, I guess, but he wasn't going to turn down the Lakers for a Cal job.)

Basically, Cal didn't suffer any noticeable opportunity cost for hiring Fox versus any of the other guys.

Well it's 1-0 for Musselman over Fox in the recruiter war lol consisting of the talented Conor Vanover.

Musselhead has recruited really well for the class of 2020. He's got the 7th ranked recruiting class according to 247. And they're all HS kids (for those that said he only gets transfers).

The jury is still out obviously, but it'll be interesting to see where everyone is at in Year 3 (the best barometer season for judging a HC, IMO).

I have no doubt that Musselman will do well at Arky and elevate that program. That's a good fit for a variety of reasons.

DeCuire is being considered very strongly for coach of the year in the Big Sky...His team lost 3 starters from last year and over 70% of their offense....He has brought 3 freshmen into the regular rotation and made them the best team in the BSC....They weren't picked to be at the top of the conference pre-season because of the loss of talent....I still think he would have been a better choice for Cal but Fox has done a decent job of plugging the hole in the dyke...If Fox ups his recruiting results, then I will have to consider him the correct choice for Cal....

KAB, you have now made yourself part of the Man Bun college career postmortem committee. I have scalpel at the ready. Let's see how many wins he adds to this year's total.
