There was talk about UVA making a change and even possibly going after alum Dawn Staley (not sure if that's realistical if there's a huge buyout due to her contract at South Carolina).

Overall, I think Joanne is a class act and respect this decision.

Best wishes to Boyle. She helped put Cal women's basketball on the map. I remember interviewing her when she first got the job at Cal. I was really nervous--I was still pretty new as a writer for Bear Insider, and the article was for our magazine. But she put me right at ease and was so open that the article pretty much wrote itself. I have always rooted for her since, so I hope she's leaving on her own accord, and I hope she gets the time she needs for her family. Walking away from something you love and worked hard to build is extremely difficult.

I wish her all the best. She brought Cal women's basketball out of the doldrums. I hope everything works out for her and her family.

Thought she turned the Cal program into a name brand. I recall she was quite close to her family, and I hope the family situation turns out for the best.
