The article mentions Ashley Walker just briefly, she doesn't seem to get much press these days sadly. However she is starting over Camille Little, and is doing a fantastic job. I always wonder why Ashley hasn't tried to get back in the WNBA, maybe she is more suited to the euro style of play, or just avoiding the year-round wear and tear.

She still is my favorite WBB Bear, and she has quite the resume, having played for many different teams (she won MVP in the Israeli league one year). The money often is better internationally than in the WNBA and that might factor into her decision. Also, nice way to see the world when your young.

I just came back from England, where I watched, on-line, Ashley's Reyer Venezia team beat the very good Galatasaray (Istanbul) women, although Venezia lost the title due to aggregate scoring:

Ashley was once the leading rebounder of the Bear WBB program, and was a capable scorer, too. She was the top draft pick of the Seattle Storm. In the WNBA, at 6'2" she didn't have the size to compete with the taller, bigger, athletes playing on WNBA front lines. Neither did she possess the the game of a pro SF so she languished as a "tweener" until Ashley went overseas, where her overall skills have enabled her to succeed.

Players her size, especially those who are better inside, have trouble finding a home in the WNBA. You have to be supremely athletic or a beast -- or better yet, both.
