The Bears easily won in Berkeley over the Cougars last season. Cal had perhaps
their fastest start of the season in that game (see box score above). The suprising
factor, however, was that Kristine Anigwe DNP. The Cougs are at a disadvantage
not having faced her. Also, their huge post, Sara Hamson (6-7), is out due to injury.

Brigham Young defeated UC Riverside in OT by 2 points (72-70). Four guards scored
in double figures for the home team. All-conference guard Brenna Chase (5-9) tied for high
point honors w/ 18 points. Paisley Johsnon ( 5-9) shared those honors. Frosh Shaylee Gon-
zales (5-10) had an auspiscious debut with 16! Maria Albiero (5-8) contributed 10 points.
The post position will be shared by starter Shalae Salmon (6-3) and 6-2 Jasmine Moody.

This is the fourth consecutive opponent that is/was dependent on their guards for the majority of
their scoring. I would imagine that Cal's three starting guards combined with two agile wings
should be able to match-up well. Kristine Anigwe should be able to score inside. If CJ West
is out due to injury, KA needs to stay out of foul trouble so that she can remain on the floor. Has
Chen Yue returned to the team from her China sojourn? Otherwise, 6-2 Alaysia Styles would be
forced to play inside and rebound. Interestingly enough, Styles had her best game of her freshman
season last year against the Cougars with 8 points and 11 rebounds in 26 minutes.
GO BEARS!
