The Green Wave has won three competitive games with their defense.
Tulane has held all three opponents in the fifties and has only yielded
39% on FGs & 19.6% 3 PTs attempts. (see Washington boxscore above)
The Huskies only tallied 51 points while shooting only 33% from the floor.
On their treys-they were held to 15%!

Tulane scores 60.3 ppg but yields only a paltry 53.7. The Green Wave upset
LSU (SEC) on the road by two points. They force 21 turnovers on average per
game which could spell trouble for Cal.

Once again Cal will face a predominantly guard-oriented team with a 6-3 & 6-2
posts getting spot minutes off of the bench. Tulane's top four scorers are three guards
and a wing SF. They connect on 43.6% of their three point attempts so the Bears need
to get out on 'em.

It is hard to visualize this game because Cal scores 16 ppg more than Tulane but gives
up 11 ppg more, too. The one weakness on Tulane is rebounding with only 28.7 boards
per game.

Kristine Anigwe should have a BIG game, again, but this opponent reminds me of Houston's tenacious guard
play. GO BEARS!

S1, great scouting report. Thanks.

You used to post more often in MBB and FB board. I miss reading your posts on those boards because you are informed, articulate and love Cal.

Go Bears!

Tulane also turns the ball over 20 times a game itself. It is a good three point shooting team but our three point defense has been very good. And our rebounding has bee great. Although at this time a year, we may have run into a bunch of weak rebounding teams.

Our turnovers are centered on two people. Caldwell, and Anigwe. Smith had a bad game or two but has righted the ship. She had an excellent assist to turnover ratio last year. And her three point shooting has come around. Brown has been a very good rebounder at 7.2 per game. Being an undersized power forward hasn't hurt us.

We have been on the road for a long time. The moving of the Stanford game made it about a month till we come back. Tulane is a quality team beating LSU at home. But if we come out on fire then I think we will win.

Neither Tulane nor LSU were highly-regarded in preseason polls for their respective conferences. Tulane is in the American Athletic Conference (same as UCONN) and was picked to finish 9th among 12 teams (ahead of only Wichita State, Memphis and Tulsa) by the conference's head coaches.

The preseason SEC media poll had LSU ranked 9th among 14 schools.
