It is not often we have a player who might be the greatest player in the history of their sport. And this board has been talking about Anigwe for awhile.

But their is another unknown named Andrew Vaughn, who is probably the best baseball player at the collegiate level to play at Cal. Not a highly rated recruit out of high school, he scorched the charts and became a first team all American as a frosh. To top it off he became the best collegiate player in the nation his sophomore year. And he is back one more time. And he is blistering. If you understand stats, he has a 1.856 OPS. Having an ops of 1.000 is phenomenal. But he is an unbelievable hitter.

So a toast to two great players in the same year who play sports that are under appreciated.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2018):
  • Recipient of the 2018 Golden Spikes Award, presented by USA Baseball and the Rod Dedeaux Foundation, as the best amateur baseball player in the country.
  • Enjoyed one of the greatest offensive seasons in Cal history in 2018 and became the first Golden Bear ever to earn National Player of the Year honors (Perfect Game/Rawlings) as well as the first Cal player to win the Golden Spikes.

and much, much more.

Thanks, wvitbear. We're only 10 games into his junior year, but he's definitely a player to watch.

It's all just entertainment, so find a way to enjoy it.
The refs are there to feed your hatred addiction and keep the games close.
