Set single season three point record at SDSU last year, will ben junior not sure she will have to sit out. Would be nice if she didn't as she seems like a good swap for Kianna.

Check the tweet below from Kameo Williams. Look at all the replies and you'll see Naje's confirmation:

On a side note, ouch to this reply to the previous tweet.

Unbelievable-Cal finally has a three point specialist after all these years! She hit 81 last season as a soph. Naje Murray, 5-6 SG, is another guard to add to the Bear roster. San Diego State played 3-4 guards/wings the majority of the time from examining their stats.

The last I remember as a specialist was Mikayla Lyles, though all-around guard Asha Thomas just set the Cal record for made threes.

Good get for Lindsay ... not a difference-maker at the Pac-12 level but a good player who will be a positive addition to the program.

Naje Murray went to St. Mary's of Stockton, and was part of that great run of teams and talent that is still going on.

Do you think Murray starts in one of the guard positions? If it was between Crocker and Murray who would you think gets the nod?

I guess you could see a lineup with both....

PG- Crocker
SG- Murray
W- Forbes
4- JB
5-CJ West

Green should see a lot of minutes, as well.

Here is a highlight clip of SDSU's upset- in the MWC tournament. She sure can shoot.

If she sits out a year, Naje Murray won't play with either CJ or JB.

Cal is losing its four double-digit scorers so points will be at a premium next season. Naje Murray averaged 13.7 ppg so she starts!

How could she be eligible next season? She's not grad transfer. Am I missing something?

If Naje Murray's family has enough money to lawyer up, she will be eligible. I've mentioned one method before, but there are many ...

It's really sad that only the rich or those with access to serious legal help can avoid sitting out a year, but that's the NCAA for you. Coaches and administrators can wring every dollar out of the system as often as possible and never miss a paycheck, but the adults who put their bodies on the line are like medieval serfs, chained to the manor for at least a year and a day.

Nice article about Naje leaving SDSU for Cal.

She sounds like a good kid and a class act for how she handled her departure: https://thedailyaztec.com/94238/sports/naje-murray-enters-transfer-portal-says-farewell-to-sdsu/

Naje isn't just a shooting specialist. She was the quickest player on the Rams. She can play D as well as was stated she was second in steals in the Mountain West. Sort of understand why she transferred. Cal is close to home and allows both her family and friends to watch her play if not in person, then on the Pac 12 network. .

With four double-digit scorers, Cal WBB did not have a good year. The previous season wasn't so hot either. Cal starts off in the top 25 in the country, and expected to end up 4th in the Pac-12. However, after the pre-season they struggle to win. This season should have been really good with 2 seniors, a grad transfer, a junior and 2nd year player, Kianna Smith. Kianna is transferring to play for Louisville.....Charmain Smith is the best Cal Coach, now she is going to the WNBA. Something isn't clicking for the Bears. The bottom half teams are all improving. Arizona won the WNIT!!! I watched CAL win this tournament at Haas in 2010. CAL could end up last in the Pac-12 next season. Why can't they win consistently..... Is it time for a coaching change Top to Bottom with the loss of Charmaine, Kianna, Kristine, Asha and Ms. Caldwell, a true team leader! I am feeling discouraged about the future of CAL WBB.....Haas is a fun environment, has enthusiastic fans, but we need a good team. I always feel badly for the players when the team loses Pac-12 games consistently.

It's January. Does anyone know if Naje has enrolled for the spring semester?

I was thinking the same thing. If she does enroll this Spring, can she participate in practice?

Kianna Smith is sitting out the Louisville games, but is with the team.

Naje Murray and Alaysia Styles are close friends. As are their families. I've met Alaysia Styles' mother and she is already talking about how excited she is that the two of them will be playing together next season.

So, in other words, relax. It will happen.

Thanks, great to hear. The lack of any mention of her for a long time was giving me an uneasy feeling.

I think back in April 2019, Lindsey was still Cal's coach.
wvitbear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
4/2 Charmin goes to NY

4/17 Naje says she is coming to Cal

6/2 Lindsey leave for Cleveland

6/21 Charmin hired for coach.

Naje came when Lindsey was here and Charmin wasn't. And Crocker was already signed.

4/19 Green and Schipholt sign with Cal under Lindsey. Charmin is gone.

7/3 McIntosh signs with Cal under Charmin.

So she will have 2 years of eligibility left? We don't have any sophomores now so this helps class balance going forward.

Good news! Naje Murray will be the only junior on the team next season. She is only 5-6 but is an excellent shooter (see sophomore stats below):
https://calbears.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/naj-murray/16083
Naje will be the first strong three-point shooter on Cal's roster in several years. She also shot 80% from the free throw line. Murray also led San Diego State in steals with 61 which should bolster the Bear's defense. Super!!!

It will be great to have Naje on our team!

Just last season Kenzie, Recee, Asha, and Jaelyn all shot .350 or better on threes and Asha set the school record for career threes made.

Damn. Silly of me--I was too excited to read the Cal article carefully. Still, I'm delighted to know Naje is among us.

Murray is a good player, and will help, but she is smallish and only shot 37% overall. Her 35% from three-point range, though, is good, and that's on 229 attempts.

Here's a concern: An A/TO of 87/91, which means she's unlikely to be the point guard.

Is she an upgrade? Absolutely. Is she going to add a bunch of Pac-12 wins because of her presence? That's more of a wait-and-see.
